FAST START ENOUGH FOR AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- A 3 run first inning set the tone for Avalanche as they stormed their way to a 7-3 victory over Prospects.

Jacob Mattocks went 1-3 on the day for Avalanche. He walked, scored a run, and drilled home 2 RBI.  Joey Fazzone went an impressive 3-4 on the day.  He also scored a run and collected a RBI.  Keith Smith also had multiple hits for Avalanche going 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.

Fazzone got the win on the mound as well. He lasted 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 8 hits.  He struck out 3 and didn’t walk anyone.

Prospects made a late rally but it wasn’t enough. Gino Lazzari was their big bat. He went 2-4 with a RBI.  Rafe Bonifay also had multiple hits on a 2-4 day.  Olindo Pezzone went 1-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Andrew Kirilla took the loss.  He gave up 6 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings.  He struck out 5 batters as well.

AVALANCHE PREVAIL PAST PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- The Avalanche had a successful weekend as a program and it continued on Sunday as they pushed past the Prospects 8-5.

Noah Philson came through big for the Avalanche offense. He went 1-4 on the day and earned a pair of RBI.  Soren Hedrick was perfect at the plate going 1-1 with two walks and a RBI. Jimmy Roe went 1-2 on the day with 2 runs scored. He also walked and knocked in a run.

Alex Zordich got the win on the bump for Avalanche. He threw 3 innings and gave up 0 runs on 1 hit. He was able to strike out a pair.

Dylan Simpson had a good day at the plate for the Prospects despite the loss.  He went 2-3 with a RBI and 2 runs scored.  Brogan Collins proved hard to get out as he went 2-2 with a walk and a run scored. Cobe Airwyke knocked in the Prospect’s second and final RBI.

 

AVALANCHE COME DOWN ON KNIGHTLINE

STRUTHERS OH- Avalanche was too much to handle on Tuesday night for Knightline. The Avalanche offense stormed their way to a 15-5 victory.

Andrew Gault was the big bat for Avalanche. He was perfect at the plate going 2-2 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Jimmy Roe added on 2 RBI on a 2-3 day and scored a run.  Jake Phillips would t be outdone, he also knocked in 2 RBI and went 2-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Jake Smith went 1-2 with 2 RBI as well.

Bennet Hayne got the win on the hill for Avalanche. He went 4 innings and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He struck out a batter as well.

John Darnley led the Knightline offense going 2-2 with a RBI and a run scored. Nate Freeland chipped in a 1-3 day with a RBI.  Grady Moore was 2-2 on the day.  Aiden Thompson went 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.

 

FALCONS GRASP VICTORY OVER AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- Astro Falcons had a dominant Memorial Day as they swept through Avalanche 8-3.

The Falcons offense was led by Chandler Maurice who went 1-3 with a run scored and and 2 RBI.  Scott Eaton knocked in another pair of RBI on a 2-3 day.  Grason Hooks had multiple hits for the Falcons finishing 2-3 with a RBI and a run scored.  Drew Kaschak looked impressive with a 1-3 day with a run scored.

Dawson Wallace pitched a complete game for the Falcons. In his 7 innings he gave up 3 runs on 7 hits.  He struck out 4. He only needed 71 pitches to get through the game.

Andrew Gault drove in a run while going 1-3. He also scored a run.  Santino Piccirilli finished 1-3 with a RBI.  Bennet Hayne mirrored those numbers going 1-3 with a RBI.

Nick Solderich threw 4 scoreless innings for Avalanche.  He gave up 4 hits while striking out 5.

AVALANCHE BRINGS THE BATS

STRUTHERS OH- It was all Avalanche on Sunday Class B action in the 16u division. Avalanche brought the big bats and found scoring east like a Sunday morning. They steamrolled through  Creekside Fitness 11-2.

Santino Piccirilli was the big bat for the Avalanche offense as he went 2-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Andrew Gault went 2-3 with 2 RBI.  Soren Hedrick had a perfect day at the plate going 2-2.

Jake Smith got the win for Avalanche on the mound. He went 5 innings and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He struck out a pair.

Bobby Budacki was 0-2 for Creekside but still managed to collect the only 2 RBI of the game. Andrew Kali had multiple hits for Creekside going 2-3.  Carter Owens went 1-2 with a run scored.

NABF SENIOR DIVISION ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM

STRUTHERS OH- Last week, the NABF Senior division Workd Series wrapped up with the Brooklyn Bonnie Jays taking the title. With a week full of talented athletes shining on the biggest level, many players were named to the All-Tournament team, and we have the list for you.

TGIF; AVALANCHE LOOK STRONG ON DAY TWO

STRUTHERS OH- The Avalanche were left saying TGIF on Friday in day 2 of the NABF World Series as they took two wins, both in dominating fashion. They shut out NEO Elite 7-0, and then smoked T3Elite 12-2.

GAME 1:

Avalanche defeated NEO Elite 7-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Christian Zilli induced a fly out from Seve Cantini to finish off the game.

Avalanche secured the victory thanks to five runs in the first inning. Mason Jones, Jaret Boyer, Cam Caldararo, and Nick Osborne each had RBIs in the big inning.

Avalanche opened up scoring in the first inning. Jones singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

One bright spot for NEO Elite was a single by Hal Walker in the first inning.

Landin Esposito led the Avalanche to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out four. Zilli threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Cantini took the loss for NEO Elite. The righthander allowed three hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

Avalanche totaled ten hits. Derek Franken, Jones, and Logan Ayres each collected multiple hits. Ayres, Jones, and Franken each managed two hits to lead. Avalanche didn’t commit a single error in the field. Osborne had the most chances in the field with five.

Avalanche stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Franken led the way with two.

NEO Elite was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Eric Coode made the most plays with five.

GAME 2:

Avalanche had no trouble on offense today, winning big over T3Elite 12-2

Avalanche got things started in the first inning. Mason Jones grounded out, scoring one run.

Avalanche scored four runs in the second inning. Isaac Criss and Jones all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Jones was the winning pitcher for Avalanche. The righty allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out 11 and walking zero. Nick Osborne threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Coe took the loss for T3Elite. The bulldog allowed six hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out one.

Avalanche collected ten hits. Cam Caldararo and Jones all managed multiple hits. Jones and Caldararo each collected two hits to lead.

Tuchowski went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead T3Elite in hits.

AVALANCHE STEAMROLL RANGERS

STRUTHERS OH-

Jaret Boyer had all the right stuff on Thursday for Avalanche, allowing zero runs and besting Lakewood Rangers by a score of 16-0 on day one of the NABF World Series.

Derek Franken collected four hits in four at bats to help lead Avalanche to victory. Franken singled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the fourth.

In the first inning, Avalanche got their offense started. They scored on a stolen base during Isaac Criss’s at bat. Then Criss doubled , driving in one.

Avalanche notched 12 runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Logan Ayres, Cam Caldararo, Griff Richardson, and Mason Jones, doubles by Franken, Jones, and Criss, and a groundout by Richardson.

One bright spot for Lakewood Rangers was a single in the fourth inning.

Boyer was the winning pitcher for Avalanche. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out seven and walking one.

Will Hyatt took the loss for Lakewood Rangers. The pitcher went four innings, allowing 16 runs on 16 hits and striking out one.

Avalanche collected 16 hits on the day. Franken, Jones, Ayres, and Criss all had multiple hits. Franken led with four hits in four at bats.

DURA EDGE BLASTS THEIR WAY TO SERIES WIN

STRUTHERS OH- After the Avalanche forced a game 3 earlier in the day, Dura Edge responded with an authoritative 15-4 win to advance in the 16U Class B Playoffs.

Ryan Telesz was a monster at the dish for Dura Edge going 3-5 on the night with 5 RBI.  He also crossed the plate 3 times.  Karter Weitzel went 1-4 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.  Marco Massucci was perfect at the plate going 4-4 with a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI.  AJ Verdi went 4-5 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.

Weitzel was rewarded with the win on the mound. He lasted 6 innings and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits.  2 of the runs were earned.  He struck out a pair.

Lucas Cummings led the Avalanche offense going 1-2 on the day and knocking in a pair of RBI.  Austin Ward also went 1-2 with a RBI, and he scored a run.  Jake Mattocks went 1-3 with a run scored.

The loss was charged to Reese Henderson who gave up 5 runs on 3 hits.  Ward pitched 4 innings and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits.  He struck out 1.

 

AVALANCHE EVEN UP SERIES

STRUTHERS OH- With their backs against the wall in the 16U Class B playoffs, the Avalanche dig deep to force an if necessary game against Dura Edge with a 8-5 win. The Avalanche were down 4-0 after 2 innings, but scored 5 in the 3rd to turn the tides.

Reese Henderson put on a show at the plate for Avalanche going 1-3 with a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI.  Julian Trott was nearly unstoppable going 3-4 on the day and racking up 2 runs scored, and a RBI.  Jake Mattocks gathered multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI.  DJ Donatelli also had multiple hits going 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

Keegan Balla pitched a pair of scoreless innings to earn the win on the mound. In his two innings of work he gave up 0 runs on 0 hits. He struck out 3.

Jarrod Malagise was the heavy lifter for Dura Edge’s offense going 1-3 with 2 runs scored, and a RBI.  Kris Hrosar went 1-3 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Anthony Malagise mirrored those numbers going 1-3 with a RBI, and a run scored.

Brady Adam’s was charged with the loss on the bump for Dura Edge.  He went 5 innings and gave up 5 earned runs on 7 hits.  He struck out 5.
