AVALANCHE EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO 6

STRUTHERS, OH – The Avalanche 16U Youngstown Class B Baseball team is red hot in the month of June. The Avalanche looked to extend their winning streak to 6 games against Ballistic. The Avalanche took a dominant lead in the first four innings, and held on to a last inning comeback in the seventh.

Avalanche came out of the gates swinging, with back to back doubles from starting pitcher Noah Philson, and second-baseman Andrew Gault. Both guys scored and it was a quick 2-0 Avalanche lead after the first inning. The Avalanche scored a run in the third inning, followed by 2 more runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Santino Piccirilli led off with a triple into left center, with EH Aiden Bowser bringing him home with a sacrifice fly. The Avalanche had a controlling 9-0 lead heading into the last inning, but Ballistic didn’t quit scoring 4 runs in the seventh. Avalanche would keep Ballistic at bay, winning the ballgame 9-4.

Noah Philson was spectacular on the mound for Avalanche, recording 5 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 8 batters. Avalanche has now won 6 games in a row to improve to 9-2 on the season, extending their win streak to 6 games in a row. Ballistic is now 4-6 on the campaign. Both teams return to action on Thursday night at Bob Cene Park, you can catch both games on YSN.

BALLISTIC KEEPS FIRING IN WIN OVER WHITING

STRUTHERS OH- Ballistic kept finding ways to score as the game went on Sunday as they outscored Whiting Roll-Offs 9-6.

Isaac Schleich led the offense for Ballistic. He went 2-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Will Morrow went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Dustin Horn went 2-3 with a run scored. Sean Connolly went 2-4 with a run scored.

Max Engle got the win for Ballistic. He threw 5 innings of work. He was charged with 3 ER on 3 H. He struck out 5 and walked 7.

Grant Melder went 1-3 for Whiting. He scored a run, walked, and compiled a RBI. Nick Vitale went 1-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Jacob Walzer was given the loss on the hill. He gave up 11 hits but was only charged with 3 runs. He struck out 3 and walked 1.

 

KNIGHTLINE NIXES BALLISTIC

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline was able to get past Ballistic in a tightly contested game on Wednesday night in Cene Park. Two runs in the 6th got Knightline enough to get the 3-2 win.

Ginny Sciortino had a perfect day at the plate for Knightline. He went 3-3 with 2 RBI. The only 2 RBI of the day for Knightline. James Meehan went 3-3 as well, he scored 2 runs on the night. Anthony Massucci walked and scored a run.

Ryan Gibbons was credited with the win. He threw 5 innings on the mound giving up 2 ER on 4 H. Gibbons struck out 4 and walked 4.

Brady Harmon went 2-3 with Balistic’s only RBI of the day. Will Morrow went 2-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Morrow threw 5 innings on the mound for Ballistic and gave up 3 ER on 6 H. He struck out 9 and walked 2.

ROTH WINS ON LAST INNING HEROICS

STRUTHERS OH- Roth Brothers got the 4-3 win on Monday when they scored a run in the top of the 7th inning. Despite the close game, Roth out hit Ballistic 10-5.

Landon Beidelschies led the offense going 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI. AJ Patellis went 1-3 with a RBI. Mike Zapka also added a RBI for Roth.

Dalton Curron had a good day for Ballistic. He went 1-3 with a walk and a RBI. Nick Vitale had a perfect day at the plate going 2-2 with a walk and a RBI.

Sam Campbell picked up the win for Roth. He went 3 innings, giving up 0 runs on 0 hits. He struck out a pair.

 

KNIGHTLINE WINS PITCHER’S DUEL

STRUTHERS OH- Offense was hard to come by on Wednesday night between Knightline and Ballistic Baseball. The two teams combined for 3 hits. Knightline was able to scratch across two runs in the final two innings to give themselves enough room to win 3-0.

Gavin Mauger went 1-1 for Knightline with a run scored. Mikey Scortino went 1-3.

For Ballistic Dalton Curron got the team’s only hit going 1-3. JR Prossen walked.

Jake Corll got the win on the mound for Knightline. He pitched 4 innings giving up 0 runs on only 1 hit. He struck out 5.

Marc Conti pitched well in the loss for Ballistic. He went 5 innings and gave up 0 earned runs on 1 hit and struck out 4.
