RAIDER REVENGE; SOUTH RANGE GOES EXTRAS TO ADVANCE

MASSILLON, OH- You knew when these two teams lined up that seven innings may not be enough to settle things.  Sure enough, we needed nine to decide a winner as South Range upended the NE8 Champion, Lakeview 4-3 to advance to the Regional title game.

South Range’s Tyson Tarajack ended up with the opportunity in the ninth frame, and the sophomore delivered a sharp ground ball through the Lakeview infield, drawing a throw that ended up being offline and allowed Nick Plunkett to keep chugging down the third base track and capped it with a head-first slide across home plate that punched the Raider ticket to the next round.

Lakeview would draw first blood on the evening in the fifth inning, only to be answered immediately by South Range in their half.  The teams would flip position in the next frame with a pair of Bulldog runs, then a Raider tying effort the very next frame.

Lakeview bows out of their 2023 campaign with a sensational, historic campaign at 20-6, and earning NE8 and District Championships for the first time in program history.

With the victory, South Range will take on Apple Creek Wayndale Friday in the Regional Championship for a chance to get to Canal Park in Akron for a State Title.
