URSULINE GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH BERNARD SCOTT

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO- The Ursuline Lady Irish will begin their tournament quest tonight as they gear up to take take on Aurora in round one of the Division II girls basketball tournament. The Ursuline girls have been preparing for this tournament all year long with their amazing strength of schedule. The girls have been guided by head coach Bernard Scott who has led them to a 15-7 record and with some impressive wins as well against like East and Girard.

Coach Scott has done a great job at keeping his squad very calm and collective throughout the season and he had the opportunity to sit down with YSN’s Matt Morrison to talk about the season the girls have had and as well as the upcoming tournament play. YOUNGSTOWN OH- Can you feel it in the air? As the cold air comes in to the valley, it whispers the start of the basketball season. Everyone is excited to see what teams take steps towards their goals this year. A team that is literally returning everyone from a season ago is the Ursuline Irish. With their girls being one year older, and one season more experienced, Ursuline seems to be one of the most seasoned teams in the YSN family. A quick look around the arena in girls basketball this season, a lot of other teams lost key pieces to graduation. The door may be wide open for the Irish.  Ursuline finished 9-14 last season against a solid schedule.  This season opens up against Howland on the road on November 28.

Bernard Scott returns to the helm of the Irish for another year. With coaching experience at every level of basketball, you can believe that he knows what he’s doing. He took the time to talk to Ty Bartell for an in depth preview of the season.  They talk about the growth of the team, moving up to division 2, and much more. YOUNGSTOWN OH- Ursuline has been a growing team all season long. The progress they made throughout the year could easily be seen. Under first year head coach Bernard Scott, the Irish are now starting to gel into his philosophy and culture. That was evident in the Irish’s sectional final win on the road against United. Ursuline lost to the Eagles in overtime during the regular season, but came back strong to beat them out of the tournament.

Coach Scott took the time to join YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about his team and the growth he’s seen this season. He also talks with Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about the tournament win over United, what he’s learned about himself this year, and much more. YOUNGSTOWN OH- Ursuline girls basketball has a proud and successful tradition. They have been led by some of the most well respected coaches in the area. Their new head coach fits that mold perfectly. Bernard Scott is a big name in the girls basketball community and he will be taking command of this power house program in the 2021 season. The Irish graduated a lot, but never have to worry about talent. With a tough schedule in front of them, they will be tested night in and night out.

Coach Scott was able to stop by Running Point this week to give us a sneak peak of this year’s  team. He talked with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about taking over this program, being a big part of the growth of girls basketball, and much more. Episode 1 of.
