SPARTANS STILL FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS
HOWLAND OH- Addie Rudge was on another planet Monday night, launching three bombs and driving in four runs as Boardman rolled past Howland 12-3.
The Spartans set the tone early when Rudge smashed a two-run shot to left in the top of the first. From there, it was all Boardman.
Tori Strines got in on the fun in the fourth with a two-run blast to center. Then in the fifth, Rudge went deep again, followed by a solo homer from Mikayla Rivera to keep the momentum rolling.
Howland’s lone bright spot came in the bottom of the fifth when Madison Schmitz answered with a solo shot of her own, but by then, the Tigers were playing from way behind.
The sixth inning was more of the same—Rudge crushed her third dinger of the night, and Strines followed with another homer as Boardman hung four more on the board to put it on ice.
Strines also got the start in the circle, going four innings and giving up three runs on four hits, with four strikeouts. Gabi Sferra came in from the pen and slammed the door shut, tossing three scoreless innings and punching out four.
Boardman’s bats were on fire—12 hits total. Strines finished with five RBIs and went 2-for-4, while Rivera and Sferra each chipped in with multi-hit efforts. Rudge and Strines both went yard twice in a game the Spartans controlled from start to finish. Defense stayed sharp too—no errors, and Rudge led the way with eight chances fielded cleanly.
For Howland, Calleigh Luman brought in two with a single, and Maya Kubancsek went 2-for-3 at the dish. These two go at it again Tuesday with Howland looking for payback.
