BOARDMAN, OH – As the football season reaches the midway point, two local coaching legends were able to sit down with YSN’s own, DJ Yokley, this week as they were on full display at the showroom in Boardman at Kufleitner Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Boardman. DJ was able to navigate this exclusive interview as they talked everything from football and other sports to speedos!

For the last time in 2019, Coach Bob Spaite and the Columbiana Clippers played at Firestone Park, as they hosted the Wellsville Tigers. To the joy of the Clipper faithful, the Clips won with an impressive 41-0 shutout. Up next for Columbiana will be a road test as they will travel down to Lisbon to take on the Blue Devils in EOAC play.

The Voice of Columbiana for YSN, Mark Franken, caught up with Coach Spaite to discuss the big win last week over Wellsville but also what we can expect from the Clippers as they will attempt to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Coach Bob Spaite and the Clippers played host to the Brookfield Warriors last week and the show did not disappoint. The Clips came from behind to win 24-23 and improve to 4-3 on the season. Up next for Columbiana will be another home game as they will welcome the Wellsville Tigers to Firestone Park.

Mark Franken, The Voice of Columbiana for YSN, sat down with Coach Spaite to talk Clippers football, what we can expect this Friday night agains the Tigers, and also what the Clips need to do in the final three games of the 2019 football season to keep their playoff dreams alive.

Coach Bob Spaite and the Clippers welcomed the United Golden Eagles to Firestone last Friday night and at the end of the night, the Clips were ahead 41-8. Week seven will send the Clippers on the road, as they will travel north to take on the Brookfield Warriors.

The Voice of Columbiana for YSN, Mark Franken, caught up with Coach Spaite to discuss what the Clips need to do to increase their winning streak to three games and also what the future holds as the 2019 season begins to wrap up.

Week four saw Coach Bob Spaite and the Clippers welcome the Southern Indians to town with significant, early season EOAC standings impact. Unfortunately the Indians left town with a victory but Coach Spaite was still optimistic about his team’s chances in the EOAC. Week five would provide the Clips with another EOAC test as they will be the hosts to the Leetonia Bears.

The Voice of Columbiana for YSN, Mark Franken, had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Spaite and discuss what he took away from the Southern game but also what the Clippers need to do to get their first EOAC win of the season.

COLUMBIANA FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 6) WITH BOB SPAITE

Coach Bob Spaite and the Clippers welcomed the Leetonia Bears to town with the chance to gain a strong hold in the EOAC standings. When it was all said and done, the Clips finished the night with a 34-13 victory. Week six will see the Clippers play host to the Golden Eagles of United.

Mark Franken, the Voice of Columbiana for YSN, had the pleasure of chatting with Coach Spaite to talk Columbiana football through the midway point of the 2019 season but also discuss what his squad needs to do to have a strong second half of the season.

Week three was a tough test for the Clippers as they took on the Springfield Tigers but came up short. Week four will be another tough match up for Coach Spaite and his team as they welcome the Indians of Southern Local to town.

COLUMBIANA FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH BOB SPAITE

The Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference was put on notice last year during the football season that Clipper Football is back in a big way.  Led by the legendary Bob Spaite, the 2019 campaign will continue to set goals for EOAC lure, but perhaps sweeten the deal with a playoff appearance and a nice run this postseason.

While the Clips lost leadership at key positions, they are still flush with talent in all the right places.

Akron Manchester is target number one, and Coach Spaite sat down with YSN’s Voice of Columbiana, Mark Franken to talk shop and discuss what to expect from the returning champions in the new year.
