BOMBERS OVER JAYS IN BATTLE OF UNBEATENS

By Ty Bartell

WINDHAM, OH — In a clash of unbeaten teams, the Windham Bombers outlasted the Jackson-Milton Blue Jays 26-14 in a rain-soaked contest dominated by both teams’ rushing attacks.

Windham (3-0) struck first with a 39-yard touchdown run by Jack Eye on a reverse play. Jackson-Milton (2-1) responded with a drive to the 1-yard line, but a lightning delay halted the action for nearly 40 minutes.

When play resumed, the Blue Jays capitalized on a mishandled snap, as Vincent Fay recovered the fumble in the end zone to give his team an 8-6 lead after Windham missed its extra point.
The Bombers quickly bounced back after the delay. Eye set up Windham in the red zone with a gutsy run on a fake punt. Windham’s persistence paid off as Dejuan Ramsey punched in a touchdown on fourth down, giving the Bombers a 12-8 advantage before halftime.

In the second half, Windham’s defense stood tall, stopping Jackson-Milton at the goal line and forcing a turnover on downs. Carlos Bruton extended the Bombers’ lead with a 21-yard rushing touchdown, putting Windham ahead 18-8.

Jackson-Milton fought back, as Fay broke free for a 45-yard touchdown run to narrow the gap to 18-14, but Windham’s defense held firm on the Blue Jays’ final drive. Eye sealed the victory with a 1-yard touchdown plunge, capping off the scoring at 26-14.

With the win, Windham remains undefeated and will host Tuscarawas Central Catholic next week. Jackson-Milton looks to rebound as it hosts Mineral Ridge in a matchup filled with revenge from last season.

WINDHAM WRECKS BULLDOGS

WINDHAM, OH- Friday night lights in Windham showcased Jack Eye and his Bombers putting on a show, steamrolling past East Palestine with a commanding 45-12 victory. It seems like Windham is on a mission this season, having kicked it off with a blowout 49-6 win against Lisbon last week.

Jack Eye was everywhere on the field, starting the night with a blazing 50-yard touchdown run. But he wasn’t done there; Eye kept the highlight reel rolling by scoring off a fumble recovery and snagging a TD reception, tallying three touchdowns on the night.

The game was briefly competitive with Windham holding a slim 13-12 lead in the first quarter, but it was all Bombers from there. They shut down the Bulldogs for the remainder of the game and had piled on a 33-12 lead by halftime, cruising through the second half without giving up a single point.

East Palestine, now sitting at 1-1, is looking to regroup and rebound as they host Bridgeport next Friday. Meanwhile, Windham is shaping up to be a serious contender in 2024, making waves with their explosive start to the season. If they keep up this pace, they’re going to be a tough team for anyone on their schedules to handle.

BOMBERS LIGHT UP OPENING NIGHT IN LISBON

LISBON, OH- Windham defeated Lisbon in a dazzling showcase of gridiron mastery, thrashing the Blue Devils 49-6 under the Friday night lights at their home field. This clash wasn’t just a game; it was Windham making a statement from the starting whistle.

Jack Eye was the man of the hour, igniting the fury with a phenomenal 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Before the fans had even settled in, he was back at it with a 36-yard punt return, darting into the end zone to push the score to 12-0. Talk about a one-man show!

There was no stippling Eye, who tore through Lisbon’s line like it was nothing. Eye powered in from 3 yards out and later sprinted for a 42-yard touchdown, racking up points and sending Lisbon’s defense scrambling. The connection between Bruton and Eye, Windham’s mysterious QB, was electric. They teamed up for three touchdown passes in just one quarter, steamrolling to a 14-0 lead by the end of the first frame.

Lisbon did snag a brief moment of glory with Grant Minor pushing across the goal line for a 5-yard touchdown in the second quarter, it brought Lisbon within 8 at the time making it 14-6, but that’s all they’d get.

Bruton was wasn’t done dazzling the crowd, though. He took another punt back 66 yards for a score in the fourth quarter, showcasing his lightning speed and elusive moves. With Dejuan Ramsey grabbing a 27-yard touchdown pass, Windham put a bow on a dominant 49-6 victory.

Windham’s performance was nothing short of a clinic in football excellence, a combination of strategic smarts and raw talent. They’ve set a high bar for the season, and teams on their schedule will have to take note. As for Lisbon, it’s back to the drawing board as they look to shake off this defeat and regroup for their next game. With Windham setting the pace, the season is looking to be an electrifying one.

WINDHAM FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JAKE EYE

By Ty Bartell

WINDHAM, Ohio – Bomber Football is back! Coach Jake Eye is hopeful, returning 15 lettermen to lead the team this year. However, with a roster of 27 players, avoiding injuries is crucial.

Senior Dylan McCune will start as quarterback, leading an offense that will also rely heavily on its rushing attack, featuring players like Jack Eye, Carlos Bruton, Austin Collins, and Jaquon Smith. The offensive line, which struggled with injuries last season, will see the return of veterans Kaishawn Scales, Brandon Petrich, and Omar Duran. Coach Eye is particularly excited about junior Azeon Davis and several promising freshmen.

At tight end, Matt Kolaczek, Alex Eye, and Brandon Petrich will be key players, while the receiving corps includes Cam Hardwick, Nick Hopper, Zack Porter, and Bryan Smithberger. Eye expects Jack Eye and Carlos Bruton to be standouts, with Jack’s size and power and Carlos’s athleticism making them dangerous offensive threats.

Defensively, the Bombers need to improve after allowing six opponents to score 36 points or more last season. Eye emphasizes a “controlled chaos” style of play, aiming to be aggressive and tough. Middle linebacker Jack Eye will anchor the defense, supported by Petrich, Smith, Kolaczek, and Cody at linebacker. The defensive line will be bolstered by Scales, Duran, Davis, and others.

In the secondary, Bruton and McCune will handle safety duties, with Dejuan Ramsey as the team’s top cornerback. Windham opens its season on August 23, traveling to Lisbon, with hopes of returning to playoff contention.
