A TIGER EARNS HIS STRIPES

WARREN OH-  Howland, a work that goes with “baseball” like bread and butter, and when it comes to pitching, a hot knife through butter is even better! That has been the case this year for The 2022 Howland Tigers baseball team. With some strong presence of arms on the mound, Howland has been a thorn in the side of All American Conference (AAC) teams for years! Well, look forward to it for a few more years AAC, because The Tigers have a stud southpaw sophomore in Brendan Ray.

A pitcher that has really got his stuff working in the second half of this season. With a dangerous fastball and curveball combination, the control that Ray has on the mound can give hitters fits. Pair that with a composure that is not seen too often from underclassmen; however, Ray has it and is like gas to a fire explosive when he is at his best! Living in that “bend but don’t break” mindset, Brendan has utilized the complete trust he has in his defense around him to make him and the team successful this season.

With some great senior leadership and coaching around him, Ray is looking to be a sponge and soak in all the knowledge and experience that sits around him. The rest of the conference has all collectively started holding their breath, as they await to see how much of Brendan Ray’s potential is fulfilled in the next two seasons.  Pitching a phenomenal complete game performance against Fitch to close out the regular season. Howland and Ray have all the momentum they need as they have their sights set on Youngstown East in The Division 2 Tournament.

The first step for #14 seeded Howland on the road to Canal Park begins on Monday, May 16th. Until then, you can catch this EXCLUSIVE interview with Howland sophomore Brenday Ray! Conducted by the boys of Running Point; found only on YSN!
