EAGLES SNATCH VICTORY FROM LEETONIA

LEETONIA OH- Tonight’s matchup of United visiting Leetonia, United Senior Brutus Ogilvie stole the first half as he put up 18 points to take the halftime lead over the Bears 33-10. United would come out of the half not slowing down on offense and defense as Ogilvie would score 6 more points and two blocks in the second half. Ogilvie would lead the game with 24 points and a 59-28 victory over the Bears.

United is scheduled to travel to Columbiana on Friday, December 18th. Leetonia will travel to Sebring on Wednesday.

UNITED FORCES THREE WAY TIE ATOP EOAC

HANOVERTON OH- United has to regroup quickly this week coming off of a tough loss to Southern in Week 5. They had no time to feel sorry for themselves as an undefeated Leetonia Bears team came to town wanting to win the outright EOAC championship. United has other plans however as they dominated Leetonia 41-8 to earn a share of the EOAC title. With Southern winning against Valley Christian, there is a three way tie at the top of the conference.

The United offense dropped 41 points and over 400 yards of offense on a Leetonia team that had allowed under 10 points a game in the season. Brutus Ogilvie went 15-26 for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Leetonia ran for 148 yards on the night. The yards came from the tandem runners of Dylan Durick and Jacob McCool.

United has a bye in round 1 of the OHSAA playoffs and awaits the winner of Canton Central Catholic vs Tusky Valley. Leetonia will also have a bye in the playoffs in await the winner of Wellsville vs Buckeye Central.

INDIANS SPOIL THE UNITED PARTY

SALINEVILLE OH- It was all set up on Friday for United to have a chance to compete for an EOAC title in Week 6 against Leetonia, but Southern made them pump the breaks, as they jumped ahead early and never let go. The Indians ended United’s undefeated hopes with a 34-21 win in Week 5.

It was the ground game for the Indians doing most of the damage. They ran for 305 yards on 44 carries. Brad Sloan had 180 yards on 12 carries for Southern. Josh Pratt was efficient through the air when they needed him. He went 5-9 with 79 yards and a TD.

Brutus Ogilvie went 24-38 with 266 yards 1 TD and 3 INT. Grant Knight caught 9 balls for 183 yards.

United will move on to try to finish strong in Week 6 as they play Leetonia. Southern now can cause a tie for the EOAC title if they win against Valley Christian in Youngstown.

EAGLES SOAR AGAINST THE WIND

HANOVERTON OH- United has to fight some strong winds on Friday night. It slowed down their vaunted pass attack, especially in the first half. But the Eagles defense picked up the slack and shut down Valley’s offense to help United glide to a 21-0 victory.

Brutus Ogilvie went 22/34 with 248 yards and 1 TD.  Lincoln Urmson ran 12 times and gained 74 yards. Keaton Baker had 9 catches for 100 yards.

United will now test their undefeated record in week 5 as they travel to Southern to take on the 3-1 Indians.

Valley Christian will look to get back on track as they travel to Lisbon.

UNITED GETS LAST LAUGH IN BACK AND FORTH AFFAIR

COLUMBIANA OH- The Week 1 matchup between Columbiana and United was highly anticipated in the EOAC. It did not disappoint the hype. Both teams traded blows but the Eagles were the ones to throw the final punch and win 31-20.

After seeing their game be postponed an extra day, United and Columbiana got things rolling quick. They were all square after a half, tied up at 13-13. Columbiana had a chance to score before the break.

United’s line started to wear down the  Clipper defense in the second half as they were running at will. It set up the pass game as Brutus Ogilvie connected on a 60 yard TD pass to Keaton Baker to take a 19-13 lead.

Columbiana responded quickly as Colin Schick found a seem up the middle to run back the kick return to give the Clippers a 20-19 lead.

Things turned sour quick for the Clippers however, as United scored the final two touchdowns of the game  to seal a 31-20 victory.
