PALESTINE COMES BACK WITH A VENGEANCE

EAST PALESTINE, OHIO- East Palestine was knocked down on Monday when Lisbon beat them 21-5.  But they came back better than ever on Tuesday as they split the season series with a 5-0 win over the Blue Devils.

The Bulldogs got to work early and scored four runs in the first two innings as they were led by Cale Moraski, who went 2 for 3 at the plate and was also the winning pitcher of the day. On the mound, Moraski pitched a seven inning shutout as he only allowed 3 hits, and struck out 18 batters. Lisbon was led by Haiden Colvin, who led went 2 for 4 on the day. Losing Pitcher, Gabe  Owens allowed 7 hits, 5 runs, and had 5 strikeouts through six innings of work.

East Palestine will host  Heartland Christian on Thursday. Lisbon will try and get back in the win column when they go on the road to play Toronto on Thursday.

 

LAKEVIEW KEEPS THE BATS HOT

GIRARD, OHIO – After tailing 1-0 through the first frame, Lakeview took control of the game to beat Girard 13-2.

The Bulldogs immediately responded by scoring five runs in the top of the second, highlighted by a Kalyssa Werner single scoring one run, a Kennedy Barlett triple scoring three runs, and a Gianna Caruso single scoring one run. Lakeview then used a three run fifth inning, a one run sixth, and a four run seventh to equal their 13 runs in the game. Ava Bacon took the ball for Lakeview.

Bacon pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, two runs, one walk, and striking out a game high nine batters. Solid defense was another component to the Lakeview victory as the Bulldogs did not commit any errors in the field.

Lakeview will next square off against NE8 conference opponent, the undefeated South Range Raiders on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m.

POLAND STAYS ON A ROLL

POLAND OH- Poland was able to improve to 4-0 on the season by defeating Northeast 8 rival Struthers Wildcats 13-0 in 5 innings on Tuesday.

Poland jumped to an 11-0 lead in the first inning then scored 1 in the second inning and another run in the third inning.  The Bulldogs pounded 13 hits with Mary Brant and Elliana Thompson each adding three hits while Brant collected 3 RBI’s and Thompson notched 2 RBI’s.  Two other players, second baseman Kylee Hudran who doubled and catcher Leanna Boccieri earned two hits each with Hudran having 2 RBI’s and Boccieri one RBI.  Right fielder Meredith Trevis also doubled and collected 2 RBI’s.

Katie McDonald picked up the win over two hitless innings, fanning 5 Wildcat batters.  Morgan Minno took the loss on the mound.  For Struthers Bella Slaina and Ella Bailey had the lone two hits of the evening.

Poland resumes play against Sharpsville on Thursday at the new Bulldog Softball complex at 5:00pm.

BULLDOGS BATS DO THE JOB

CORTLAND OH-Gianna Caruso had a busy day at the plate on Monday, smacking four hits in Lakeview’s 11-4 victory over Girard. Caruso singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fifth.

Girard scored three runs in the third inning, but Lakeview still managed to pull out the victory. Girard offense in the inning was led by Sidnee Rice and Ali Durkin, both driving in runs.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first inning when Mack Stowe homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Emily Rosace toed the rubber for Girard. The hurler allowed 13 hits and 12 runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

Lakeview tallied two home runs on the day. Kennedy Bartlett went for the long ball in the third inning. Stowe had a long ball in the first inning.

The Bulldogs collected 13 hits on the day. Caruso, Izzy Haines, and Bartlett all collected multiple hits. Caruso went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.

Girard racked up 11 hits. Abbie Rafferty, Kylie Carpenter, Aly Wakefield, and Malina Serrano each managed multiple hits on the day.

BULLDOGS BREAK OFF THE CHAIN AGAINST SOUTH RANGE

CANFIELD OH- Lakeview took home a 5-4 victory over South Range on the road on Thursday.

Lakeview got things moving in the second inning, when Brandon Toot singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Alex Stowe was credited with the victory for the Bulldogs. Stowe surrendered three runs on three hits over three innings, striking out two. Jason DeMonica, Tyler Capan, and Andrew Brown all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Capan recorded the last four outs to earn the save.

Konnor Brogan took the loss for South Range. He lasted three innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out five.

Andrew McRoberts went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Lakeview in hits.

South Range’s offense was led by Tyler Wardle who went 1-2 with a pair of RBI. Logan Baxter went 1-3 with a run scored.  Billy Skripac walked twice on the day and scored a run.

Lakeview is scheduled to host Canfield on Friday at 5:00.  South Range will try to bounce back Friday as they host Boardman.

DENNEY CALLS GAME IN EXTRAS

POLAND, OHIO- In what was a thriller extra innings game, the Poland Bulldogs walked it off in the bottom of the ninth to take down Hubbard 3-2.

Poland jumped to an early lead after scoring a run in the second and third innings to go up 2-0 and were led by Teagan McCurdy, who went 2 for 2 and Chris Denney, who went 2 for 4 including hitting the walk off double to seal the win for the Bulldogs.

Hubbard did not go down without a fight as they tied the game at 2 in the top of the 7th inning to extend the game only to come up just a little short in extra innings. The main pitcher for the Bulldogs was Ryan Dilullo, who pitched six innings allowing 4 hits and had 9 strikeouts. Andrew Kali was the main pitcher for the Eagles, pitching four innings and allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, and 3 strikeouts.

Hubbard will tavel to Howland this Saturday to take on the Tigers. Poland will travel to Struthers on Monday. 

POLAND OPENS NEW FIELD WITH A WIN

POLAND OH- It was an exciting night in Poland as the Bulldogs got to play on campus for the first time since 2007.  With a brand new softball field done and ready to go, the Bulldogs christened it with a 8-2 victory over Hubbard.  Poland Hall if Famers Reid Lamport and Erin Gabriel threw out the first pitch, and Katie McDonald took it from there.

The Bulldogs ace in the circle threw all 7 innings while striking out 12. She gave up 1 earned run on 5 hits.

Not only did McDonald give Poland their first win on a new field, she also launched the Bulldogs first home run in their new home.  Eliana Thompson had a great day at the plate for Poland at the top of their lineup. She went 3-4 and crossed the plate twice. Kylie Hudran also went 3-4 from the eight spot in the lineup. She gathered a RBI as well.  Leanna Boccieri drove in 2 runs on a 2-4 day.

Hubbard was led at the plate by Lauren Kamorek who went 1-3 with a HR and a RBI.  Alyssa Gregory went 1-3 as well with a RBI.  Jillian Palumbo went 1-2 with a double.

Poland is scheduled to play 2 games on Saturday at home against Chalker. The first pitches of those games are at 1:00 and 5:00.

LAKEVIEW LOOKING GOOD

STRUTHERS OH- Lakeview looked impressive on Tuesday night as they opened the season with a huge 18-1 conference victory over Struthers.

The Bulldogs got rolling from the start scoring 4 runs in the first inning.  Gianna Caruso started her big day with a 2 RBI double in the inning to go along with a few RBI walks in the Bulldog lineup. Caruso was perfect at the plate going 3-3 with 3 RBI and a walk.  Mack Stowe was also big at the plate going 2-2 with 2 RBI 2 walks, and 2 runs scored.  Kennedy Bartlett also collected multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI and 2 runs scored.

Ella Chadwick got the start in the circle for Lakeview and set the tone in the circle. She went 3.0 IP and gave up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 3.  Ava Bacon pitched the final two innings and gave up just 1 hit and struck out another 3.

Zoey Simpson finished with multiple hits for the Wildcats.  She went 2-2 on the day.

The two teams will complete their season series on Wednesday at Lakeview. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00.

SZALAY GETS 100TH GOAL AS MOONEY GETS THE VICTORY

Mooney improved to 4-1 on Tuesday night after defeating Poland 9-8. Addison Stacy led with 3 goals. Ella Szalay reached a milestone of 100 career goals by adding 2 goals and an assist on the night.  Peyton Campbell had 2 goals, while Angelee Blasko and Sarah Schaller had 1 a piece. Alyssa Ray made 7 saves in goal.

Mooney travels to Gilmour Academy Thursday for another road match up at 6:30pm.
