POLAND USES ANOTHER GREAT FINISH TO SEAL THE DEAL

In a Friday night matchup, Poland showcased their defensive prowess, constructing a fourth-quarter wall to pull away from Campbell with a final score of 60-45. The Bulldogs effectively transformed a seven-point lead at the start of the final frame into a commanding 15-point victory.

Carmine Tukalo emerged as the offensive standout for the Bulldogs, securing a game-high 17 points. Tukalo has consistently proven himself as the top scorer in both of Poland’s games this season.

With this triumph, Poland’s record advances to 2-0. The Bulldogs are set to host Boardman on Saturday as part of the Poland United Way Classic, featuring a lineup of four basketball games throughout the day. The matchup between the Bulldogs and Spartans is anticipated to be the nightcap event of this exciting basketball showcase.

ANDRE’S GAME IS GIANT

EAST PALESTINE OH- As East Palestine’s girls’ basketball team embarks on a new season filled with determination, the spotlight falls on one of their seasoned leaders, Gabby Andre. Known for her quiet but impactful leadership, Gabby’s commitment to excellence sets the tone for her teammates. She exemplifies the ethos of hard work, often being the first to arrive and the last to leave the court. Gabby’s receptiveness to coaching stands out, making her a valuable asset on the team.

Last season, Gabby’s contributions were evident, finishing second in points per game (6.2), three-pointers made (16), steals per game (1.6), and assists per game (1.2). As the team looks to the future, Gabby aims to instill a lasting legacy of dedication within the Bulldog locker room.

In the ongoing season, she has elevated her game even further, averaging 9.3 points per game and showcasing defensive prowess with 1.8 steals per game. Her performance includes a notable career-high 19-point game against Lisbon, highlighting her ability to rise to the occasion. Gabby Andre’s impact extends beyond the stat sheet, making her an integral force driving East Palestine towards success.

CORTLAND OH- The Lakeview Bulldogs are ready for some basketball! Coming off a down year from a season ago, The Bulldogs look to flip the script and see some success this season as they return quite a few starters and minute contributors from last year. Playing in the very tough and potentially wide open Northeast 8 (NE8) Conference, Lakeview will look to have better success against the conference opponent that they were competitive with in the last campaign. Full speed ahead for the 2023-2024 season, the Bulldogs and their community are looking to get loud in the gym once again!

POLAND DEFENSE LOCKS UP THE TIGERS

POLAND OH- In a defensive showdown on Tuesday night, both Poland and Springfield battled in their season opener in Poland. The Bulldogs’ stifling defense set the tone, holding the Tigers scoreless in the first quarter. This early advantage paved the way for Poland to secure a 41-27 victory.

Poland’s offensive efforts were led by Carmine Tukala, who contributed 15 points, with solid support from Jacob Hayes, who added 9 points, and Danny Nittoli with 7 points.

Springfield showed resilience, with Aiden Appel and Carson Cunningham each putting up 9 points, but Poland’s early defensive prowess proved decisive in this hard-fought matchup.

BLUE DEVILS CAGE THE BULLDOGS

LISBON, OH – The Lisbon Blue Devils dominated the basketball court tonight, securing a resounding victory over EOAC foe, the East Palestine Bulldogs with a final score of 75-42. From the opening tip-off, Lisbon set the tone for the game, showcasing their offensive talent and defensive tenacity. The first quarter saw Lisbon racing to a 14-4 lead. The Blue Devils’ coordinated efforts on both ends of the court left the Bulldogs struggling to find a rhythm.

At halftime, Lisbon maintained control with a 30-18 lead. The first-half performance underscored the team’s depth, as multiple players contributed to the scoring effort. The Bulldogs, led by Will Dixon and Kyler Bourne, faced a daunting task in overcoming Lisbon’s strong defensive presence.

The third quarter proved to be a pivotal period, with Lisbon extending their lead to 50-27. Trevor Siefke continued his scoring barrage, finishing the game with an impressive 25 points as the Blue Devils continued showcasing the well-rounded offensive capabilities.

Despite facing a formidable opponent, East Palestine’s Will Dixon fought valiantly, finishing the game with 13 points. Kyler Bourne added 9 points to the Bulldogs’ effort, but Lisbon’s relentless pace and efficient scoring made it challenging for East Palestine to mount a comeback.

As the final buzzer sounded, Lisbon celebrated a convincing 75-42 victory. Adding on to Siefke’s 25 points were Hunter Dailey with 17 and Austin Dailey with 13.

Up next for Lisbon will be a home matchup with their EOAC rivals, the Columbiana Clippers on Friday night. East Palestine will return home on Friday night to take on the Valley Christian Eagles.

POLAND ESCAPES A OVERTIME THRILLER IN HOME DEBUT

POLAND OH-  In a thrilling encounter, Poland hosted Springfield for their first home game of the season on Monday night. The Bulldogs provided ample excitement for their home crowd, facing a Tigers team that reached the State Final Four last year. In a closely contested battle, Poland secured a hard-fought victory with a last-second defensive stand in overtime, clinching the win with a final score of 42-41.

Poland’s offensive efforts were led by Mary Brant, who notched an impressive 16 points, and Leanne Williams, contributing 15 points.

On the Springfield side, Mariana Tuscano led the scoring with 13 points, followed closely by Jameka Brungard with 12 points and Kerrigan Mullen with 8 points.

The overtime drama and the one-point difference in the final score showcased the competitive nature of the game. Poland will continue their home stand, welcoming Boardman on Saturday for the United Way Classic, while Springfield prepares for league play with a Thursday matchup at Jackson Milton.

LADY BULLDOGS CLAW OUT A CLOSE WIN

LISBON, OH – In a closely contested EOAC matchup, the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs secured a narrow victory over the Lisbon Lady Blue Devils with a final score of 39-36. The game unfolded with intensity, featuring standout performances from both teams.

As the game unfolded, it became clear that every basket and defensive play would be crucial. The first three quarters saw both teams exchanging leads, showcasing the competitive balance between the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Blue Devils. The intensity of the matchup kept fans on the edge of their seats. In the fourth quarter, it was Gabby Andre who rose to the occasion for East Palestine, displaying skill and composure, Andre made key plays on both ends of the court. Her contributions, whether in scoring, rebounding, or defensive stops, proved pivotal in East Palestine’s victory. Andre finished with a career high 19 points

Despite Lisbon’s resilient efforts led by Jayden Smyth with 10 points and Lylah Brown with 9 points, East Palestine managed to secure a slim 39-36 win as the final buzzer sounded. Up next for Lisbon will be another home match up with the Columbiana Clippers on Thursday night. East Palestine returns to action on Wednesday at Toronto.

CHANEY GRADUALLY PULLS AWAY FROM THE BULLDOGS

EAST PALESTINE OH- Chaney secured their first win of the season with a methodical performance, gradually pulling away from East Palestine to claim a convincing 56-29 victory.

Alyssa Brown led Chaney’s scoring effort with 18 points, showcasing her offensive prowess. Ja’Ziya Burley-Anderson contributed 15 points, while JaMiya Jackson added 12 points to the team’s total.

East Palestine’s offensive efforts were led by Leila Martin, who posted 9 points, and Jasmine Ludt, who contributed 8 points.

Chaney’s well-rounded scoring and solid defensive performance allowed them to control the game and secure a decisive win.

CHAMPION’S HOME OPENER SENDS A MESSAGE

WARREN OH- In an impactful home opener on Thursday, Champion made a statement with a 51-39 victory over Poland, marking the first win over Poland in Head Coach Michael Cole’s career. The matchup showcased Champion’s resilience and determination, especially after last season’s 51-22 loss to the Bulldogs. The turning point came in the third quarter, where Champion outscored Poland 18-12, establishing a crucial 12-point lead heading into the final frame.

Bella Meyer led the scoring charge for Champion with a game-high 17 points, including three three-pointers, and contributed 4 rebounds. Kayla Haynie added 11 points, showcasing her three-point shooting prowess, while Carlie Easterday contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds. Kennedy Caldwell chipped in with 7 points.

On the Poland side, Kylee Hudran led the scoring with 16 points, making four three-pointers, followed by Mary Brant with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Elliana Thompson added 5 points to the Bulldogs’ total.

Champion’s impressive win sets the stage for their upcoming matchup against Warren JFK on Saturday. Poland, on the other hand, will return home to host Springfield on Monday.

FLASHES START SEASON IN STRIDE

CORTLAND OH-  In a season-opening showdown, Champion delivered an impressive performance on Friday, securing a convincing 54-26 victory over the previously 1-0 Bulldogs of Lakeview.

Bella Meyer led the charge for Champion with an outstanding 16 points, complemented by Kennedy Caldwell’s 15-point contribution. Carlie Easterday and Addie Warzala added to the scoring with 8 and 6 points, respectively, showcasing the team’s well-rounded offensive capabilities.

On the Lakeview side, Mack Stowe led the Bulldogs with 8 points, while Karlyssa Werner and Annabelle Humphrey contributed 6 and 5 points, respectively.

Both teams are set to return to the court on Monday for their next challenges. Champion will hit the road once again, facing Niles, while Lakeview, now on the road for the first time this season, travels to Jefferson. The early-season clash has set the stage for an exciting basketball campaign, with both teams eager to build on their performances in the upcoming matchups.
