C-MITCH READY FOR ANY PITCH

By Ty Bartell

AUSTINTOWN OH- Do you want an exemplification of a player that shows kindness, cares for their teammates and passion for the sport? Look no further than Fitch Falcon second baseman, Caitlin Mitchell. Going into her senior season, Mitchell has been a mainstay on the right side of the infield the last few years. With her bat doing the talking for itself in the lineup, Mitchell has found herself at the top of the order this year for the undefeated Falcons!

From an early age Mitchell always knew she had a love of the sport, but in the same breath, loved the bond that was created and shared between her and her father Curtis. Hard work pays off and dreams come true, following this season, Mitchell will take her talents to Notre Dame College to stay a Falcon and play softball at the collegiate level.

Not many players accomplish their dream of becoming a college level talent, but for Caitlin Mitchell the talent paired with the teammate that she is has checked the boxes it takes to be a college level player. Beyond that, the person Caitlin Mitchell is just as special! Find out more about one of the Fitch seniors in this edition of Player Profile as Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell got the chance to speak with one of the Austintown leaders.

HOGAN AND MITCHELL SIGN ON TO NEXT LEVEL

AUSTINTOWN OH-

The Austintown Fitch Falcons softball team has two more players signing to the next level! As The Falcons left-side of the infield specialist, starting second baseman Caitlin Mitchell and the catcher for Austintown, McKenna Hogan have both made their college decisions! Both Fitch seniors will stay Falcons as they will be a part of Notre Dame College in Cleveland this time next year.

Mitchell, a .362 hitter across 46 games in her career at Fitch, while also sporting a 1.000 fielding percentage in her junior campaign, will look to take her two-way talents to the next level.

Hogan, a .330 career hitter, swatted three home runs this past season for the regional runner-up Austintown. Hogan has also only committed a single error across 447 total chances behind the plate for The Falcons, she will look to continue her success at the collegiate level.

A FALCON BUILT FOR GREATNESS

AUSTINTOWN OH- Caitlin Mitchell is part of a Fitch softball team that just feels special this season. She knew it as soon as she looked at the roster coming in to the season, and so did all of her teammates. When that realization hits, the only thing that can cross a person’s mind is “what do I need to do to make this happen?” And that is exactly the mindset that Mitchell has brought to the table this season.

Mitchell is the definition of a team player. She is always willing to do whatever the team needs her to do to win games. Whether they need her to make stunning defense, or they need her bat to produce some offense. She’s up for the task. She also sacrifices a ton to make her teammates better. A lot of players on other teams that are this good might struggle with ego, and wanting to be “the one” that makes the team special. Mitchell does not have that issue. She has completely put herself and her personal accolades below the team goals. This is also something that has spread to the whole roster at Fitch, which is another reason why they are making so much noise this year.

Mitchell took the time to join YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her season. She talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about the mindset of this team, some of the best memories she has on the team, and much more. Check out the latest Fitch softball player profile on YSN.
