GREEN AND HOLLOBAUGH SIGN ON TO CONTINUE CAREERS

WARREN OH- A pair of Warren JFK Eagles turned their commitments into signings on Friday as the officially put their names down to continue their athletic careers at the next level.

Cam Hollobaugh will be a two sport athlete at Walsh University. Hollobaugh signed on to not just play football, but also play baseball. Cam was part of the 2020 state runner up football team, and the 2021 district champion basketball team. He won Trumbull county player of the year in both sports. The first student athlete to complete that feat in over 30 years.  Cam was also named on the All- State team in both sports. He was also named defensive player of the year in football. Cam was also a member of the JFK National Honor Society.

Gabe Green has signed to play basketball at Tiffin University. Like Hollobaugh, Green was a key member of both the state runner up football team, and the district championship basketball teams this season. Green was named 1st team All County in basketball. Green was recognized as the JFK receiver of the year in 2020. Gabe plans on studying Digital Media and Design.

From all of us at YSN, we want to wish the best of luck to both Cam, and Gabe in their future endeavors. It has been an honor to be a small part of high school athletics career and look forward to hearing about your future successes.

JFK HOLDS BACK ST PAUL TO GET INTO SEMIFINALS

WARREN OH- Warren JFK had to hold strong on a final drive from St Paul to hang on to their late lead and win 27-21 in the quarterfinals. The Eagles built a two score lead in the first half, but St Paul’s offense came out swinging and gave the Eagles a battle to the end.

Jesse Likens got the Eagles on the board first with a one yard run capping an 80 yard opening drive. Then after forcing a three and out, Likens struck again this time from 13 yards out. Cam Hollobaugh was also productive for the Eagles gaining 168 yards on the ground with 30 carries. He also added 59 yards through the air. Hollobaugh scores maybe the most important touchdown of the day with a 50 yard blast when the game was 20-14 Eagles. The 13 point lead was just enough to hold on to a 27-21 win.

The Eagles advance to the regional semifinals next week as they’ll host Dalton.

JFK EXPLODES IN THE SECOND HALF TO ADVANCE

LIBERTY, OH – Warren JFK, fresh off the bye week played Lowellville in a high scoring game in the second round of the playoffs. Warren JFK’s Cam Hollobaugh would score 8 total touchdowns(7 rushing, 1 passing) in a run-heavy victory while Lowellville’s Wide Receiver Cole Bunofsky caught 4 touchdowns for the Rockets. The Eagles beat the Rockets 65-33.

Lowellville would get on the scoreboard first with a 28 yard touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Cole Bunofsky from Quarterback Vinny Ballone to make the game 7-0 early in the first quarter. Warren JFK would answer with a 7 yard touchdown run by Running Back Jesse Likens to tie the game at 7. The second quarter was a shootout with both teams scoring back and forth. Hollobaugh would score 3 rushing touchdowns and pass for an additional in the second quarter while Cole Bunofsky scored two more receiving touchdowns in the quarter. The Eagles lead 36-26 going into halftime.

The second half was all Eagles with 4 additional touchdown rushes by Hollobaugh to increase their lead with Rockets Ballone finding Senior Cole Bunofsky one more time in the fourth quarter. Warren JFK beat Lowellville 65-33. Warren JFK will face the winner of Southern vs. St Mary’s for the next round of the playoffs. Catch all the playoff action for Warren JFK here on YSNLIVE.com.

CREEKSIDE PUNCHES TICKET TO CHAMPIONSHIP

STRUTHERS OH- In a back and forth affair that went deep into extra innings, Creekside advanced to the 18U Championship with a 8-7 win over Roth Brothers in 10 innings. Creekside scored 3 runs in the top of the 10th and had to hold off a furious rally. Roth scored 2, but couldn’t tie up the game and force an 11th inning.

Aaron Posey was crucial to Creekside’s offense going 1-4 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Shane Wockley went 2-4 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Grant Voytovich was 2-5 with a run scored and a RBI.

Cam Hollobaugh was his productive self for Roth going 1-4 with 2 RBI. Zach Lockwich went 2-2 with 1 run scored 3 walks, and a RBI. LJ Evans went 2-6 with a run scored and a RBI.

Brady Hansen picked up the win on the mound for Creekside. He went 2 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. He struck out 1 batter.

ROTH SEALS THE DEAL AND ADVANCES

STRUTHERS OH- Roth Brothers advances to the next round of the Class B Playoffs on Thursday with a 8-3 victory over Whiting Roll-Offs. Roth scored four runs in the 7th to erase any idea of a Whiting comeback.

Ethan Shaw was a force to be reckoned with for Roth. He went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Cam Hollobaugh went 1-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Justin Clevenger went 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

For Whiting, Gabe Yanssens went 1-2 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI. Dante Micaletti mirrored those numbers going 1-2 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI. Tyler Kamerer collected a RBI off a 1-3 day with a run scored.

Ryan Sullivan got the win on the rubber for Roth. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 7.

ROTH THUNDERS TO GAME 1 VICTORY

STRUTHERS OH- Roth Brothers got the playoffs started on the right foot with a 7-1 dominating win over Whiting Roll-Offs on Wednesday. Roth scores 7 runs on 10 hits and only allowed 1 run on 3 hits.

Cam Hollobaugh led Roth in scoring going 1-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Ethan Shaw was on fire going 3-4 with 3 runs scored and a RBI. Justin Clevenger had a perfect day going 3-3 with a RBI. He also scored a run.

Whiting struggles offensively by Tyler a Kamerer has a good day going 2-3 with a run scored. Cre Calabria got the other Whiting got going 1-3. Ethan Bintrim collected the team’s only RBI.

Cam Hollobaugh got the win on the mound for Roth. He went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 9.

ROTH BROTHERS DOUBLE UP WHITING

STRUTHERS OH- Roth Brothers doubled up Whiting Roll-Offs on Saturday in an 8-4 win. Roth scored 8 runs on 7 hits while Whiting scored 4 runs on 6 hits. Roth scored all eight of their runs in the first 2 innings.

Ethan Shaw had a fantastic day for Roth Brothers. He went 2-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Cam Hollobaugh went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Cre Calabria has a solid day at the plate for Whiting. He went 1-2 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI. JA Quahliero has a perfect day at the plate going 2-2. Chase Tomko went 1-2 with a walk and 2 RBI.

Abe Bayus picked up the win on the hill for Roth. He went 2 innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits and struck out 2.

 

LATE PUSH GETS EAGLE WEAR PAST ROTH BROTHERS

STRUTHERS OH- Eagle Wear scored three runs in the 7th inning to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat on Sunday. They escaped with a 4-3 win over Roth Brothers.

Eagle Wear only accumulated 5 hits on the day, but Brett Palmer had a big one. He went 1-3 with a walk and 2 RBI. Steve Rohan went 1-2 with 1 RBI.

Ethan Shaw had a perfect day at the plate for Roth Brothers he went 2-2 with a walk, and a run scored. Cam Hollobaugh went 1-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.

Zach Lordo got the victory for Eagle Wear. He went 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 3.

ROTH BROTHERS REIGNS SUPREME

STRUTHERS OH- An early Knightline lead did nothing to bother Roth Brothers as they scored twelve runs in 3 innings in a 12-5 victory on Sunday. Knightline was up 3-0 after three innings. Roth Brothers ended up getting 12 runs on 8 hits.

Cam Hollobaugh went 1-2 with a run scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI for Roth Brothers. Caelen Bender went 1-3 with 2 RBI.

For Knightline Nick Jacobs went 1-2 with 2 RBI.  Brett Bobbin went 1-3 with 1 RBI.

Abe Bayus got the victory on the bump for Roth Brothers.  He went 4 innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 3.

ROTH BROTHERS REBOUNDS AGAINST PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- Roth Brothers bounced back from a loss to Creekside with a win over Prospects on Friday 5-1. Roth scored two runs in the first two innings, and then added three insurance runs in the 6th and 7th. Their pitching made five runs more than enough as they only gave up one run on three hits.

For Roth Brothers Cam Hollobaugh went 3-4. Ty Ventresco went 1-3 with a RBI. LJ Evans collected a RBI.

David Leslie got the lone RBI for Prospects going 1-2. Shane Cato also went 1-2.

Alex Tomsic got the win for Roth Brothers on the mound. He went 5 innings giving up 0 earned runs on 2 hits. He struck out 7.
