GOSKE GIVES BOARDMAN EVERYTHING

BOARDMAN OH- Sometimes athletes come around a school system that just mean a lot to every team they play on. This year Boardman has one of those players in Cami Goske. Whether it be volleyball, basketball, or softball, Cami shows up big in the Spartans uniform. It is no  surprise to any of her coaches, one of the hallmarks to Goske’s game is her ability to be coached.

As far as volleyball goes, Goske has put in a lot of work to grow more and more into a dominant middle blocker for the Spartans.  She pointed out a lot of key elements to blocking she has worked to fine tune over her career.  She moves along the net extremely well, from pin to pin she can get anywhere. That is often a trouble point to middle blockers. It’s not easy to slide side to side and set up good blocks consistently, but Goske has mastered it.  On the season Goske has the blocking lead on the team by far with 42 on the year.  She also leads the team on offense with 89 kills to this point on the year.

Goske got a chance to catch up with Anthony Hartwig this week to talk about her senior campaign. They also talk about what coach Birch has brought to her game, her favorite thing about being a multiple sport athlete, and so much more. GO GO GOSKE!

BOARDMAN OH- A junior class in a sports program is often overlooked on how important it can be. Juniors hold the key to whether or not the program will sustain success after the current seniors move on. They’re the ones that hold the torch for the legacy of the seniors that proceed them. Boardman’s  juniors are particularly keen on how important they are to the future of the Spartans. They are taking in everything they can from the ten seniors they play with. One of these awesome juniors is Cami Goske.

Goske’s biggest strength is her baserunning. Her ability to read and make good decisions on the base paths is well ahead of her years. She is fast enough to steal most bases. However, anyone that knows the sport understands that speed by itself does not make you a great base runner. Goske brings the intangibles that take her from good to great. She knows when to break for the next base, and when to stay put. Goske is also no slouch at the plate when given her opportunity. Speed is hard to handle.

She hits .275 so far this year with an on base percentage close to .300.  She has a pair of doubles and a handful of RBI. She’s got a stolen base percentage of 80%.  She’s only been caught stealing once this season.

Cami took the time to join YSN’s Running Point with her fellow juniors beside her. She takes the time to talk about how she feels on the base paths, some of her favorite memories so far, and much more. We are back in Spartan land for another Boardman softball player profile. Check it out!
