VINCE GIVES HIS OPPONENTS FITS

CANFIELD, OH- Senior linebacker Vince Malkovits sat down for his first ever interview on YSN from Cocca’s Pizza in Canfield. Vince was expecting to be a safety entering his final senior season, until he made the late adjustment to the linebacker position a few weeks before the opener. Malkovits talks about having his brother Mike on the team with him, along with what he wants to teach his brother along the way. CANFIELD ESCAPES DOVER WITH OT WIN

Dover, OH- The Canfield Cardinals bounced back in a big way last night, taking down division 2 opponent, Dover. The Dover Tornadoes got on the board first with a touchdown reception from JJ Barton to make it 7-0 with 5:46 left in the first quarter. Canfield came right back in quarter number 2, with a Broc Lowry touchdown pass to tight end Hunter Kanotz to tie the game at 7.

The game was tied at 7 at the end of the 3rd quarter, until the Cardinals moved down the field and punched it in with a short touchdown run to take a 14-7 lead with 9:19 left in the ballgame. The Dover Tornadoes put together a long sustained drive to set up shop inside Canfield’s ten yard line. It was fourth down and goal for Dover with 22 second left in the game, when Dover QB Ben Hamm ran it in to tie the game with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

The game went into overtime, with Dover possessing the ball first. The Canfield defense was stout, and forced a short field goal in the first overtime. The Tornadoes missed the chip shot on the field goal try, and gave the football to Canfield with a chance to win it. On 3rd down and 5 at the Dover 15, Lowry broke loose and scored the game winning touchdown to take it in OT, 20-14. The Cardinals improve to 5-1, while Dover dropped to 4-2.

ROGERS FOLLOWS HIS FATHER AS THE LONG SNAPPER

Canfield, OH- Senior Canfield football player Aiden Rogers joined the show on Wednesday night from Cocca’s Pizza in Canfield. Rogers does it all for the Cardinals, acting as a tight end, defensive end, and the teams go to long snapper on the special teams unit. Rogers follows the footsteps of his father who was also a long snapper in high school. He talks about the mindset of a football player, along with his wrestling career up to his junior season. JACK WILL ALWAYS BOUNCE BACK

Canfield, OH- Senior wide receiver and defensive back Jack Fabry sat down to talk about his football career on YSN. Fabry has worn many hats during his high school years. He transitioned from a position player to a quarterback for his sophomore and junior seasons, before returning back as a wide out and defensive back for his final senior season. RAMUN IS AIMING FOR SUCCESS

Canfield, OH- Cardinals wide receiver and special teams senior Gavin Ramun sat down in another Canfield football player profile brought to you by:

Ramun has been a key receiver for quarterback Broc Lowry in his final season. Ramun has made some special plays, including 2 touchdown receptions in the Battle of 224. FRANK STOPS THE PLAY AT POINT-BLANK

Canfield, OH- Senior defensive tackle and linebacker Noah Frank joined the show on Wednesday night at Cocca’s Pizza in Canfield. Frank made one of the best defensive plays of the year on Friday night against St. Thomas More, timing the snap perfectly and tackling the quarterback before the play started.

CANFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER: WITH MIKE PAVLANSKY

Canfield, OH- Canfield football Head Coach Mike Pavlansky sat down for another coach’s corner brought to you by Cocca’s Pizza. This a huge week for the Cardinals, as they will travel to Chaney to take on the number 7th ranked team in division 3. Coach Pavlansky talks about the talent Chaney brings to the table, and the skill guys for the Cowboys. CADEN STANDS UNSHAKEN

Canfield, OH- Caden Kohout is a senior line backer and defensive lineman for the Canfield Cardinals football team. Kohout was a second team All-AAC selection for both football and wrestling last season. Kohout talks about playing two physical sports at Canfield, and his leadership role as an experienced linebacker. YOU “KANOTZ” STOP HIM

Canfield, OH- The Canfield Cardinals football team is 4-0 to start the 2022 season. A key starter on both sides of the ball is senior tight end and defensive end Hunter Kanotz. He is also a two sport athlete, playing Lacrosse as well during the spring season.

Kanotz has been an animal on the defensive side earning 2nd team All-AAC honors last season as a defensive end. CANFIELD GLIDES PAST ST. THOMAS MORE

The Canfield Cardinals stayed unbeaten on Friday night beating St. Thomas More 42-0. The Knights traveled down from Hamilton, Ontario to play their first football game of the season against Canfield.  The Cardinals offense was almost unstoppable, scoring on every offensive possession until the last drive.

Offensively, Danny Inglis had three rushing touchdowns on the night. Wide receivers Jack Davis and Jake Schneider also contributed with touchdown receptions. Senior tailback Nick Smyczynski sealed the deal with a rushing touchdown on 2nd and goal to win it 42-0.

Canfield will travel to Rayen Stadium next Friday to take on an undefeated Chaney Cowboys squad. You can watch next weeks game on YSN, with kickoff at 7 P.M.
