“JUST FOR KICKS”

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Three sport athlete at Cardinal Mooney High School Nick Pregibon joined DJ Yokley and Steve Leslie at The Sports Grille in Cranberry. Pregibon plays soccer, basketball and is the kicker for Cardinal Mooney. Pregibon has had an extremely busy fall season, playing 13 weeks in football as the Cardinals were able to make it to the regional semifinal before falling to number one seeded South Range Raiders.

Pregibon and the soccer team also made an incredible run winning the district and the regional final to advance to the state semifinal. The Cardinals dropped a 1-nil decision to Ottawa Hills in the semifinal round. Nick was a key contributer to the Cardinals offense, scoring 15 goals and four assists. The Cardinals finished with a record of 17-4-1 throughout the amazing 2022 season.

LEAN ON HARDY

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Robert Hardy joined D.J. Yokley at Cardinal Mooney high school to talk about his senior year of football. Hardy has been a pivotal leader for the Cardinals defense. Hardy harps on how motivated this team was in 2022 after finishing 1-9 last year. He talks about the belief of the senior class and the hard work that his teammates and himself put in the off-season to get to the third round of the playoffs. DON’T MESS WITH TINO

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Senior offensive and defensive lineman Tino Merlo sat down at Cardinal Mooney high school to talk about his senior campaign. Merlo has been a force to be reckoned with on the right side of the line for Cardinal Mooney. Merlo’s fantastic season got him on the list as an All-YSN football player in 2022. Merlo talks about the satisfaction of opening up big plays for his running backs and then watching it back on film the next day.

Merlo comes from a very athletic family with both of his sisters playing collegiately at John Caroll University. Merlo talks about the competitiveness with his sisters in all aspects of life. IT TAKES TWO TO COVER ALEC

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Senior wide receiver Alec DelSignore joined D.J. Yokley to talk about his final football season. DelSignore has been the most targeted receiver throughout the season. DelSignore has been so good that teams have started to double him on the outside. Alec talks about this senior class and the friendships they have built on and off the field, along with his excitement for his teammates success. CARDINAL MOONEY COACH’S CORNER: WITH HEAD COACH CARL PELINI

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Cardinal Mooney head football coach Carl Pelini joined D.J. Yokley to talk about the 2022 campaign. Cardinal Mooney played one of the most difficult schedules in all of division five. Pelini talks about making the schedule difficult to prepare his squad for the postseason. The Cardinals are playing their best football at the right time after beating Edison 45-14, followed by beating Norwayne 24-17 to advance to the regional semifinals. Coach Pelini has done a fantastic job turning the program around from a year ago to make a regional semifinal appearance against the number one seeded South Range Raiders. CAN’T GET PASSED TY

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Senior football player Ty Reali joined D.J. Yokley to talk about his final football season. Reali talks about the comradery and the brotherhood of being a Cardinal Mooney Cardinal. Reali has been the backbone of the Cardinals defense as the lock down safety. Reali also answers some rapid fire questions about himself and his teammates.
