NEWEST TEAM, LATEST CHAMPIONS

STRUTHERS OH- In a thrilling Game 3, the 3B Barons edged out Athletix 5-4 to clinch the 2024 18U Class B Championship.

Aidan Leiendecker led the charge for the Barons with three hits and a run. Nick Thomas added two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Nick Parrotto chipped in with two hits, an RBI, and a run. Kallen Durbin and Ben Miller each had two hits, with Miller also driving in a run.

Joey Campoli secured the win, pitching two innings and giving up one hit and two runs while striking out three.

For Athletix, Paul Gubba had two hits, including a double. Logan Cypher doubled and drove in two runs, while Tyler Wardle added a double and a run.

With this win, the 3B Barons are crowned the 2024 18U Class B Champions.

ANOTHER BARONS BARRAGE IN GAME TWO

STRUTHERS OH- The 3B Barons jumped on Athletix early and never looked back, cruising to a 9-0 win to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the 18U Best of Five Championship Series. Nick Porrotto was solid on the hill for 3B, tossing five shutout innings, giving up just four hits, and striking out two while walking two.

CJ Frasco took the L for Athletix, surrendering five runs on ten hits over five innings, with four strikeouts and three walks.

Tommy Karoly was hot at the plate, racking up three hits and scoring three times for the Barons. Ryan Piekutoski added a triple among his two hits, driving in two and scoring a run. Aidan Leiendecker chipped in with two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. Nate Thomas also had a pair of hits and crossed the plate once. Brady McGuire contributed with a hit, a run, and an RBI. Frasco managed two hits for Athletix in the loss.

Game 3 is set for Saturday, July 13 at 7:00 pm on Cene #1.

BARONS ROLL IN GAME ONE

STRUTHERS OH- In Game 1 of the Youngstown Class B 18U Championship Series, the 3B Barons dominated the Athletix with a 10-0 shutout. Tommy Karoly was unstoppable, racking up three hits and scoring three times. Ryan Peikutoski chipped in with two hits and drove in two runs.

On the mound, Corbin Sevcik was lights out, going the distance for a complete-game shutout. He scattered five hits and fanned six batters to secure the win.

Game 2 of the series is set for Wednesday, July 10 at 7:00pm on Cene 1.

ASTRO FALCONS CLINCH 16U CHAMPIONSHIP

STRUTHERS OH- In a nail-biter of a Game 4, the Astro Falcons clinched the 16u Class B Championship with a 5-3 victory over the Avalanche. Will Petty was on fire, racking up three hits and crossing the plate once. Chase Gelpi also came up big, with two hits and two runs scored.

On the mound, Jaden Royal was clutch, pitching 2 1/3 innings of nearly flawless relief. He gave up just one hit, no runs, and struck out one to secure the win. For the Avalanche, Chase Mitcheltree contributed with two hits and an RBI. Dom Miller added a double and a run, while Gabe Titus chipped in with a double, an RBI, and a run.

With this win, the Astro Falcons wrapped up the series 3-1 and claimed the 16u Class B championship.

AVALANCHE STAY ALIVE WITH GAME THREE WIN

STRUTHERS OH- In Game 3 of the 16U Championship Series, the Avalanche stormed past the Astro Falcons with a 10-5 victory, narrowing Astro’s series lead to 2-1. Hunter Jones and Layne Rider each tallied two hits, an RBI, and a run, making their presence felt at the plate. On the mound, Matthew Myers was lights out, pitching a complete game and giving up just six hits and two earned runs while striking out six.

For the Astro Falcons, Gavin Hiscox stood out with a double and two runs, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

ATHLETIX ARE STRIDING INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

STRUTHERS OH- The Athletix were on fire in Game 3 of the 18U semifinals, crushing the Astro Falcons 18-9. Alex Solema led the charge with three hits, including a double, six RBIs, and a run. Tyler Wardle wasn’t far behind, racking up two hits, four RBIs, and a run. Paul Gubba added to the offensive onslaught with two hits, an RBI, and two runs, while Anthony Triveri scored three runs off two hits. Logan Cypher and Gavin Fallgren also delivered, with Cypher getting three hits, an RBI, and two runs, and Fallgren knocking in two runs on two hits and crossing the plate three times.

On the Astro Falcons’ side, Blake Primrose managed a double and an RBI, and Aari Fox chipped in with a double, an RBI, and a run.

With this win, Athletix punch their ticket to the championship series, where they’ll take on the 3B Barons starting July 9.

FALCONS TAKE CONTROL OF THE SERIES

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons crushed Avalanche 13-2 in Game 2 of the 16U Championship Series. Joey Gabriel was a standout, hitting a double and scoring two runs. Will Petty pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and two runs while striking out one.

For Avalanche, Henry Biggs Desantis had a double and an RBI, and Will Beckert added a double and a run. The Falcons’ big win keeps their championship hopes alive as the series heats up. Stay tuned for more action!

BARONS HAVE NO TROUBLE GETTING INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

STRUTHERS OH- The 3B Barons dominated Creekside with a 12-1 win in Game 2 of the series. Aidan Leiendecker led the way with two hits, three RBIs, and two runs. Brady McGuire was on fire, collecting four hits, including a triple, three RBIs, and a run. Kallen Durbin added two hits, two RBIs, and a run, while Luke Anderton chipped in with a triple and two runs.

On the mound, Nathan Craig was lights out, pitching four innings, giving up just three hits and no runs while striking out five. This win secures the 3B Barons’ spot in the championship series, which kicks off on Tuesday, July 9. Stay tuned for more action!

ATHLETIX FORCE A GAME THREE WITH THE FALCONS

STRUTHERS OH- Athletix took Game 2 of the series with an 11-6 win over the Astro Falcons. CJ Frasco led the charge with three hits, including a double, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Anthony Triveri added two hits, one of them a double, and racked up four RBIs and a run. Paul Gubba and Jake Shumate each hit a double and scored a run.

For the Astro Falcons, Tommy Zimmerman had two hits and a run. Michael Gunn chipped in with two hits, including a triple, driving in a run and scoring. Alex Venezia added a double and two RBIs.

With the series tied, Game 3 will be played on Monday, July 8, to see who moves on to face the 3B Barons in the championship series.

BARONS LOOK IMPRESSIVE IN FIRST WIN OF THE PLAYOFFS

STRUTHERS OH- 3B Barons took Game 1 of the Class B 18U semifinals series against Creekside, scoring all four of their runs in the 5th inning to win 4-2. Colby McGuire led the charge at the plate with a 1-2 performance, driving in two runs. Brady McGuire contributed with a hit, an RBI, and a walk, while Tommy Karoly and Nate Thomas each added a hit, a walk, and a run. Ben Miller chipped in with a hit as well.

On the mound, Zyler Freedman was solid, pitching five innings and allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out eight. Creekside’s offense saw Frank Senediak and Mason Petridis each drive in a run, with Eli Mandler and Derek Curry adding hits. Despite their efforts, Creekside couldn’t overcome the Barons’ big inning. Creekside’s pitching saw them go 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits with one strikeout.
