LIKE A ROSS
CANFIELD, OH- In a lively episode of YSN’s podcast, host DJ Yokley sat down with Meredith Ross, one of Canfield High School’s respected senior volleyball captains, for an enlightening discussion. Recorded live from the bustling atmosphere of Cocca’s Pizza, the interview offered listeners a glimpse into Ross’s personal life, passions, and the Canfield volleyball community.
Ross, known for her leadership on and off the court, discussed her longstanding tradition of attending the Canfield Fair, a staple in her family’s life. When asked about her favorite part of the fair, Ross enthusiastically declared, “Definitely the food,” citing dishes like monarch cinnamon rolls and cavatelli as her go-to choices.
Family plays a pivotal role in Ross’s life, as she detailed the support she receives from her parents, sister, and especially her grandmother, who attends every game, even those far from home. Her father’s background in football analytics uniquely positions him to offer strategic advice on her volleyball performance, which Ross finds particularly beneficial.
Beyond volleyball, Ross enjoys unwinding with TV shows like *The Rookie* and *Chicago PD* and holds a clear vision for her future: pursuing a degree in architecture. She expressed an interest in designing homes and has set her sights on universities such as Cincinnati and Kent State. “I’d probably say more of a big city has more opportunities,” she mentioned, highlighting Cincinnati as a potential future home due to its robust opportunities.
Regarding role models, Ross attributes much of her inspiration to her parents and lauded Nebraska volleyball player Lauren Stubbins as an athletic idol. She admires the relentless efforts of her father and the assertiveness of her mother, traits she aims to embody in her own life.
Ross also praised her volleyball coach, describing her as “great” and “positive,” and expressed gratitude for the strong bond they’ve developed over the years. The camaraderie among her teammates, as observed during the podcast, is indicative of the supportive environment fostered by their coach.
In conclusion, Meredith Ross’s grounded and aspirational nature makes her a standout leader in the Canfield community. With her sights set on a promising future, she continues to inspire both on and off the court.
