URSULINE IRISH FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH DAN REARDON

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Ursuline Irish started the year off on a very good note in Week 1, defeating the Brookfield Warriors 52-14 in a highly anticipated matchup at Stambaugh Stadium. There were many new faces that stood out for a team that lost some of the most decorated athletes in program history after last year’s Division IV State Championship Game loss, a game in which Head Coach Dan Reardon stresses does too much overshadowing on a season in which the Irish did so much to return to the state title game for the first time since 2010.

Though Ursuline showed a lot of fans around the valley just what they could be capable of, they face a tough test in Week 2 as they will welcome Parma Padua Franciscan to Youngstown on Friday night. Coach Reardon discussed some of the threats that Padua brings to the field, as well as some of the things that the Irish will have to improve on heading into Friday night’s showdown.

CHANEY COWBOYS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 2) WITH SETH ANTRAM

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Coming off a very impressive season opening victory, head coach Seth Antram and the Chaney Cowboys are starting to prove to everyone why they are here and ready to take on any challenge this season. The Cowboys dominated from the opening kick off till the final whistle, defeating the Poland Bulldogs in Poland, 34-2, in week one. Up next for Chaney will be another road contest as they will travel to Boardman to take on DJ Dota’s Spartans on Friday night.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach Antram this week at Hackett’s Pub to discuss the big week one victory, what his thoughts where about how the Boys performed against Poland, what he and his staff are preparing for Boardman, what his keys to the game this week are, and so much more!

UNITED GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH SARAH HODGSON

HANOVERTON OH- When talking about small schools in soccer, the girls program at United has been one of the most consistent in the area. It would be hard for you to find a losing record in their program’s history since it started in 2006.  They are two seasons removed from a district championship appearance, and they’re looking to get back to that spot this time around. With Sarah Hodgson back to coach the Eagles for another season, United has a great chance to make a run at it.

Coach Hodgson took the time to come on to YSN’s Running Point to give us a park behind the curtain and preview the Eagles season.  She talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about the schedule they’ve put together, the growth of the fairly young program, and much more! EDISON VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH LEAH EFT

RICHMOND OH- Edison is a hidden gym in the small town of Richmond. The Wildcats have a strong core of high character athletes highlighting their volleyball program. They may play in a tough conference, but there’s no reason to think the Wildcats can’t be competitive this season. They have been brought together by adversity, and the bond they’ve built is unbreakable. After taking time away from coaching to build a family, Leah Eft has stepped back in to take the helm of the Wildcats program.

Coach Eft took the time to be on YSN’s Running Point this week to give us a solid preview of the Wildcats season.  She talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about coming back to coaching, what makes Edison special, and much more. BOARDMAN SPARTANS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH DJ DOTA

BOARDMAN, OH – It’s always tough for a first-year Head Coach to step into any program while not knowing what to expect. Add on that you’re the third different head coach in a span of three years and that you’re taking over one of the biggest programs in the area, and then you may have started to scratch the surface into the mind of DJ Dota. Dota takes over a Boardman program that is looking for stability, and he may just be the man to install that. Dota comes joins the Spartans after spending four. years out of the head coaching ranks, where he last served as the leader for a West Branch program that won 38 games during his eight years at the helm.

Boardman is coming into a big measuring-stick week early in the season, as they will play host to the very dangerous Chaney Cowboys. Chaney (1-0) is coming off a 34-2 statement victory over the Poland Bulldogs in Week 1. Coach Dota discussed the highs of a very determined Week 1 victory in which his team only led for the last three minutes of the ball-game, and the improvements that his squad will have to make to be able to pull off the victory in their home opener.

JEFFERSON FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH BRANDON HANNA

JEFFERSON OH-  The Jefferson Falcons, a team that showed a lot of promise a year ago, has returned key starters from the 2021 campaign. Featuring names such as the speedy senior receiver Trent Hodge and dual-threat senior quarterback Grant Hitchcock. Being the only Ashtabula County team in The Northeast 8 Athletic Conference, Jefferson is looking to make a big splash in their last year with the conference.

With discussions about competing inside The NE8 this season, the team goals for the 2022 season, the keys and challenges in inspiring young people today and what originally inspired Coach Hanna. All while looking ahead to week two of the season.

VALLEY CHRISTIAN FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ANDY HAKE

YOUNGSTOWN OH-  Valley Christian Head Coach Andy Hake joined Alek Koberna this week after taking down his in-stadium rival Campbell Memorial 47-7 to discuss his teams performance. Andy Hake is going into his second season at Valley Christian after a 7-3 start last season finishing third in the EOAC behind United and Southern. This season the War Eagles shocked their own coach with a dominant victory.

Andy Hake sets the stage for the matchup next week with LaBrae and discusses the young studs of his Valley Christian crew.

LISBON BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT ALTOMARE

LISBON, OH – The Lisbon Blue Devils coming into a season with a lot of talent returning from last year’s squad that will be leaned on throughout the course of the season. Returning this year is a very experienced and exciting junior class led by quarterback Trevor Siefke and running back Austin Dailey.

YSN’s own, Rick Dailey, was able to sit down with Coach Altomare this week to get a season preview on the Blue Devils, what the roster is looking like this year with key pieces on all sides of the ball, what the schedule is all about for the Blue Devils, as well as, a week one preview as Lisbon will play host to the Bombers from Lisbon.

SALEM FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH RON JOHNSON

SALEM OH- Salem head football coach Ron Johnson enters his 11th year at the helm of the Quakers with a familiar face at quarterback, but some “new” faces in new spots. He sat down and talked about how the off-season program and start of this season has gone and how he and his staff look to reload for the 2022 campaign.

CHANEY COWBOYS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH SETH ANTRAM

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Chaney Cowboys football team has been gaining a lot of attention and hype this off season as first year head coach, Seth Antram, looks to put his mark on a program that has such a rich history already, in hopes of building upon last season’s success. Chaney will rely heavily on a star filled roster this season as the Cowboys will look to take the SVC by storm and compete for a conference title as well as make some noise come playoff time. Chaney will begin their season this Thursday, August 18th, as they will travel down 224 to Poland to take on the Bulldogs in a very exciting season opener.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, had the opportunity to chat with Coach Antram this week to discuss his thoughts about being the head coach of the Cowboys where he was previously an assistant coach, what his season outlook is, what the roster is shaping up to be, as well as, what his outlook and keys to victory are for the ‘Boys on Thursday night, and much much more!
