As she navigates her final high school season, Schrickel remains focused on leading her team deep into the playoffs, emphasizing strategic positioning and team comfort throughout the season. The senior’s journey in soccer began at a young age and reignited during her first year at Mooney, inspired by her sister and cousin. Now, as she enjoys her final games at Mooney, Schrickel reflects on what it means to be part of such a storied program. “There’s a legacy to follow,” she said, beaming with pride. “And it’s nice to add on to it.”

OH MI GOODNESS

CANFIELD, OH- In the heart of Canfield, amidst the aroma of freshly baked pizza, Canfield High School senior and volleyball captain, Lauren Miasek, took center stage in a candid interview with podcast host DJ Yokley. Miasek, a pivotal force both on and off the volleyball court, shared her insights and ambitions during a recent player profile session at Cocca’s Pizza.

As the town buzzed with excitement during the Canfield Fair, Miasek highlighted her fair favorites, ranking the thrilling Zipper ride as her top choice, alongside a must-have meal of Island Noodles, Molnar cinnamon rolls, and a refreshing lemon shake. The fair, she noted, is a staple for Canfield students looking to unwind and enjoy the festivities.

Transitioning from fair rides to volleyball pride, Miasek opened up about the exceptional bond she shares with her teammates. “These are like my best friends. On and off the court, I’m always with them. The bonds we’ve formed help us play better together,” she said, emphasizing the collective effort and mutual encouragement that defines their team spirit.

Reflecting on her personal journey, Miasek credited upperclassmen Cameron Zanko and Isabella Bucciarelli for their guidance when she rejoined Canfield High. “They were the most welcoming people and made transitioning back so much easier,” she recalled.

Away from the net, Miasek’s support system includes her close-knit family. Her mother, whom she describes as her best friend, has been her unwavering cheerleader, never missing a game. Her father’s constructive critiques have also been instrumental in her athletic development, while her siblings, despite their geographical distances and schedules, continue to inspire her.

Looking ahead, Miasek aspires to merge her passion for sports with storytelling. With dreams of pursuing journalism and sports broadcasting, she is considering the University of Cincinnati and Ohio University for their robust journalism programs. “I love writing and talking about sports. The field combines my interests perfectly,” Miasek shared passionately.

When queried about her ultimate career goal, Miasek confidently stated, “I want to be on TV, broadcasting about football or basketball.” She acknowledged the competitive nature of the industry but expressed readiness to start at the bottom and work her way up.

As the Canfield volleyball team gears up for a promising season, Miasek revealed her anticipation for the senior night showdown against arch-rival Fitch. With determination and camaraderie, Miasek believes the team can achieve greatness by tapping into their full potential every game.
