CANFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 7) WITH JOE IGNAZIO

CANFIELD, OH- In the latest episode of YSN’s “Canfield Football Coach’s Corner,” host DJ Yokley sat down with Joe Ignazio, head coach of the Canfield Cardinal football team, to discuss the team’s progress and strategies following a crucial bye week.

“We’ve been bitten a little bit by the injury bug ever since summer,” Ignazio admitted. “The bye week allowed us to get our guys healthy and refocused before diving back into the thick of the season.”

Ignazio shared insights on managing the team’s morale and maintaining their focus. Rather than granting the team an entire week off, the Cardinals engaged in meaningful activities such as community service with Hurricane Relief and local fire and police departments. “It’s a good balance of football, rest, and giving back to the community,” said Ignazio.

When asked about his personal time during the bye week, Ignazio confessed, “I’m always watching football, breaking down film on our opponents,” highlighting the dedication seen not only in his players but in himself as well.

Looking ahead to this Friday’s game against Howland, Ignazio emphasized the importance of staying focused and controlling what they can. “We talk about you versus you and not getting in your own way. We’re committed to not lowering our standards, regardless of external expectations.”

As they prepare for the upcoming match, the Cardinals celebrate the efforts of their JV players through their traditional “Breakfast of Champions” event, fostering camaraderie and a sense of achievement within the squad.

Ignazio also revealed a more personal side in the interview, touching on his past fear of heights and deeper thoughts about life and mortality as they relate to his coaching philosophy. “The older I get, the more I think about life itself… it gives you a real picture of your existence in this world,” he reflected.

The Canfield Cardinal football team is poised and ready, with their eyes set on finishing the season strong and making a significant impact in the playoffs. As Ignazio aptly put it, “October are meaningful games, and you’re certainly right there. You win the next two, and you’re in the playoffs.”

Coach Ignazio’s leadership and the team’s renewed spirit demonstrate that the Cardinals are more than prepared to tackle the challenges ahead and soar to new heights.
