Lowellville, OH — As the clock ticks down on his senior year, Geno Perry, star running back for the Lowellville Rockets, reflects on a whirlwind football season. Perry, who transferred to Lowellville from Mohawk during his sophomore year, has become a fan favorite, showcasing his talents on both sides of the ball while leading his team to numerous victories. “It’s gone pretty fast,” Perry remarked. “It feels like it was just preseason, and now we’re already at week nine. It’s been an amazing journey.”

Perry’s football journey began in third grade, inspired by his father, a standout player in his own right. “My dad was really good in football, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps,” Perry shared. This father-son legacy has driven Geno to excel, both on the field and off. Playing alongside key teammates such as AJ Belko and impressive underclassmen like Ricky, Perry has helped shape a dynamic and evolving Lowellville team. “Playing behind guys like AJ this year has been incredible,” Perry noted. “And Ricky, he’s been filling in as QB pretty well. It’s great to see younger players stepping up.”

The rivalry games, particularly against Springfield, are where Perry truly shines. “Springfield games are always more competitive. You gotta beat the best to be the best,” he said. While football remains his passion, Perry is also an accomplished baseball player, serving as center fielder for the Lowellville Rockets’ baseball team. He credits baseball with helping him maintain his composure on the football field. However, his heart remains with football, which he plans to pursue in college. “My favorite moment has been winning the MVAC both years,” Perry reflected. “Especially this year, showing people how good I really am.”

Off the field, Perry’s support system includes influential coaches and family members. He highlights Coach Manuel, referred to as a “father on the field,” and Coach Greer, his running back coach, for their significant roles in his athletic development. His parents, especially his father in sports and his mother in academics, continue to be his pillars of strength. Looking ahead, Perry plans to attend college, majoring in pre-law, motivated by his mother’s belief in his potential. “My mom always thought I’d be good at it, and it’s something I’m willing to pursue,” he said.

As he prepares for the next chapter, Perry’s ambition and dedication remain unwavering. “I’m focusing on running back in college,” Perry asserted. “But you never know. College can change things, and they might move you around. Still, running back is where my heart is.” With over 1500 yards rushing this season, Geno Perry’s legacy at Lowellville is firmly cemented. His journey serves as an inspiration to many, and his future promises to be as bright as his high school career has been illustrious.
