COLUMBIANA SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH DARYL KURTZ

COLUMBIANA OH- There aren’t a lot of programs in the area that are as exciting coming in to the season that Columbiana. As spring approaches the anticipation of the season continues.  The Clippers have a ton of talent on their roster this season, and a lot of it is young and promising.  With a great mix of strong arms in the circle, and power bats spread throughout the lineup the Clippers will be a formidable foe to anyone who crosses them. Columbiana has won their first game of the season against Boardman 4-3, and find themselves on the field again Thursday traveling to Salem.

Clippers head coach Daryl Kurtz starts his second year at the helm. He joined YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to preview this season. They talk about the premiere pitching that the Clippers will feature, the schedule they have put in front of them, and much more. COLUMBIANA OH- As expected, Columbiana is having a fantastic start to the 2022 season, and is quickly becoming one of the best division 4 teams in the area. Led by great pitching, and clutch offense, this fairly young Columbiana team is poised to make a lot of waves as the season goes on.

The halfway point of the season brought the Clippers to Pigeon Forge Tennessee where they competed with some of the regions best teams. The Clippers took full advantage of their trip and didn’t lose a single game. It is sure to bring them massive amounts of momentum in the final stretch of the season. Getting consecutive games in consecutive days might also let Columbiana find a groove that other teams have been struggling to find with the weather of April.

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana has been flexing their muscles for the last decade as one of the premiere area teams in division 4. They’ve made a run to the state championship game, and have won plenty of league titles. The prestige of the program is not lost on new head coach Daryl Kurtz. He has taken a step forward for his wife Madison Kurtz who had to move to an assistant role because of the birth of a new baby to their family. The high school version of Tennessee’s Ralph and Karen Weekly run the Clippers program still as a unit. Grouped with a star studded roster, the Clippers are poised for big things in 2022.

Coach Kurtz hopped on YSN’s Running Point this week to help us preview the Clippers season. He talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about the senior returners, some of the big new names to the varsity level, and much more.
