POTTERS HANG TOUGH, FALL TO TRIBE LATE
SALINEVILLE, OH- Saturday’s game against Southern Local was a heartbreaker for the East Liverpool Potters, as they lost the lead late in a 9-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Southern Local batting in the top of the fifth when Glover doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The Potters then struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Southern Local, giving up nine runs.
East Liverpool captured the lead out of the gates in the first inning when Logan Bennett singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run. In the fourth inning, East Liverpool tied things up at three scoring one run when Derek Klein singled.
May got the win for Southern Local on the bump. He allowed one hit and one run over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Paxton Grimes took the loss for East Liverpool. He lasted three innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two and walking zero. Lewis started the game for Southern Local. He surrendered two runs on one hit over two innings, striking out three
Offensively, Bennett and Klein each collected one hit to lead the Potters. Glover went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Southern Local in hits.
