TOY’S TIME

CANFIELD, OH-– Celebrating his 18th birthday in style, South Range High School’s star quarterback, Tristan Toy, took the hot seat on YSN’s latest podcast episode. Hosted by DJ Yokley, the show provided listeners with an intimate glimpse into the life of the senior athlete, both on and off the field.

Opening the episode with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday”, the podcast set a festive tone that highlighted Toy’s significance to the South Range community. DJ Yokley commended Toy’s journey from a shy, young player to a confident leader who is now one of the most popular figures among the Raider fans.

“It’s amazing. I feel like every time I’m on the mic, I represent what it means to be a part of such a great program,” Toy remarked, reflecting on his role and the responsibilities that come with being QB one.

Throughout the conversation, Toy shared his love for the program and community, emphasizing the joy of inspiring younger fans. “The kids always look up to all of us because we’re like superheroes to them,” Toy said, adding that the support and adulation he receives are incredibly fulfilling.

Toy also relived special moments, including a memorable school trip to Italy. “Swimming in a very blue ocean, and experiencing a different culture was fantastic,” he said, appreciating both the travel and his teammates’ antics during the trip.

When asked about handling the pressure that accompanies being a senior quarterback, Toy remained candid. “I just try to be myself… Make everybody else laugh, just have a good time,” he noted, revealing a relaxed approach despite the immense expectations.

Toy’s maturity shone through as he spoke about his sources of inspiration and wisdom. His unwavering reliance on his family and coaches, combined with his focus on practice and preparation, underscores the strong foundation that supports his athletic endeavors.

In a lighter segment, Toy discussed fair food preferences with a humorous twist, revealing a penchant for sugary delights like funnel cakes and deep-fried Oreos, and a surprising indifference to condiments on his fries.

Towards the end, Toy shared heartfelt sentiments about his family’s influence. “They mean everything to me,” he said, highlighting the vital role they play in his life.
