COLD BLOODED; RANGE RIPS REGIONAL FROM POLAND’S GRASP
BOARDMAN, OH- This one was an instant classic—South Range and Poland, locked in a slugfest for the Division V, Region 17 Championship. A bitter rematch from Week 6, when South Range roared back from a 14-0 hole to take a 38-30 win. The Bulldogs wanted revenge; the Raiders wanted validation. It came down to the wire, and South Range walked away with a 17-16 nail-biter to punch their ticket to the state semifinals.
Poland hit the gas early, mirroring their Week 6 script. Less than two minutes in, Vito Komara torched the defense for a 65-yard house call, silencing the Raider faithful. It looked like déjà vu. By halftime, Poland was up 16-7, thanks to a 13-yard TD scamper and a booming 42-yard field goal from Jas Stefancin.
South Range didn’t flinch. The Raiders leaned on their ground game, pounding the rock behind the dynamic duo of Tristan Toy (106 yards, 1 TD) and Aiden Dominguez (100 yards). While the offense scratched and clawed, the defense stiffened, shutting out Poland in the second half.
Special teams came through in crunch time with a clutch 34-yard field goal by Luke Starkey to make it 16-10. And when the game was on the line, Toy found freshman Tommy Titus for an 11-yard dagger with just 16 seconds left.
Ice. In. Their. Veins.
