PLAGENS IS LIVING HIS POWER PLAY
MIAMI, FL- If you hear the name Doug Plagens, and it sounds familiar, it’s because he’s skated through town on his way to some pretty special things.
Doug Plagens is the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Florida Panthers since the 2015-16 season. Prior to joining the Florida Panthers Radio Network, he was the radio and television play-by-play voice of the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters as well as the Arena Football League’s Cleveland Gladiators for four years.
Plagen’s broadcasting experience also includes time as a television sports anchor and reporter at the CBS/ABC affiliate in Youngstown, Ohio. In addition, he was the radio and television voice of the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads and while in Boise he had a nightly sports talk show on KTIX 1350 and did freelance work with KBOI-TV.
And now, Plagens is standing on the doorstep of a lifelong dream of announcing for his Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals against Las Vegas.
YSN’s DJ Yokley caught up with his long-time pal to talk about the uniqueness of being a broadcaster, living out dreams, and calling moments that will last forever.
