LEOPARDS CONTINUE IMPRESSIVE SEASON

DOVER OH- Louisville has quietly put together a strong season on the boys soccer field. They came in to Tuesday night already with 10 wins on the season. They added to that total with a quality 3-1 win at Dover.

Scoring goals for Louisville were Ethan Diller and Brady Adams. The third goal was an own goal by Dover. Ryan Kibler and Cooper Gilbert both contributed assists for the Leopards.

Louisville is now 11-4 on the season and will close out their regular season Thursday at home against New Philadelphia.

CANFIELD ESCAPES DOVER WITH OT WIN

Dover, OH- The Canfield Cardinals bounced back in a big way last night, taking down division 2 opponent, Dover. The Dover Tornadoes got on the board first with a touchdown reception from JJ Barton to make it 7-0 with 5:46 left in the first quarter. Canfield came right back in quarter number 2, with a Broc Lowry touchdown pass to tight end Hunter Kanotz to tie the game at 7.

The game was tied at 7 at the end of the 3rd quarter, until the Cardinals moved down the field and punched it in with a short touchdown run to take a 14-7 lead with 9:19 left in the ballgame. The Dover Tornadoes put together a long sustained drive to set up shop inside Canfield’s ten yard line. It was fourth down and goal for Dover with 22 second left in the game, when Dover QB Ben Hamm ran it in to tie the game with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

The game went into overtime, with Dover possessing the ball first. The Canfield defense was stout, and forced a short field goal in the first overtime. The Tornadoes missed the chip shot on the field goal try, and gave the football to Canfield with a chance to win it. On 3rd down and 5 at the Dover 15, Lowry broke loose and scored the game winning touchdown to take it in OT, 20-14. The Cardinals improve to 5-1, while Dover dropped to 4-2.

FALCONS PULL OFF THE MONSTER UPSET

DOVER OH- Austintown Fitch had a heck of a mountain to climb on Wednesday as they found themselves starting at Dover across the bench. Dover came in to Wednesday night as the 6 seed in Division 1. And for good reason, Dover put together a impressive 20-2 regular season. Fitch didn’t care though, they showed no fear as they went on the road and knocked off Dover 60-57.

The Falcons upset was led by Allen Underwood who dazzled all night on the way to 18 points. The Falcons saw the return of Devin Sherwood who was also in double figures with 12. DeShawn Vaughn contributed 9 points as well.

Fitch will advance to the sectional finals on Saturday. They will travel to Aurora to take on the 25th seeded Greenmen. Tip off on Saturday is set for 7:00.

CANFIELD GETS SWEPT UP BY TORNADOES

Canfield,OH- The Canfield Cardinals were looking to improve to 2-0 facing a tough Dover Crimson Tornadoes team. The Cardinals were unable to overcome the run game of the Crimson Tornadoes and a tough defense. Dover wins 21-14. Broc Lowery led the Canfield offense with 240 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Oliver Kovass led the Cardinals in receiving with 103 yards and a touchdown.

Connor McGarry helped the Crimson Tornadoes with 104 yards rushing and a touchdown late in the game that would be the deciding touchdown. The Cardinals would score with less than two minutes left to bring the game to one score. The Cardinals had a chance to tie the game with 1:20 left in the game and two timeouts but were unable to overcome the deficit.

Dover came away with the victory 21-14. Canfield (1-1) will face John F Kennedy (Cleveland) at home next week. Catch the game here on YSNLive.com.

CANFIELD GETS SWEET REVENGE ON DOVER

DOVER OH- Canfield suffered a tough loss to Dover last season, a loss which sat with the Cardinals for nearly 365 days. They let out all their frustration on Friday with a huge 31-10 win on the road.

Brock Lowry was effective in both the air and the ground attacks. He combined for 308 all purpose yards for the Cardinals. He punched in to the house three times. Chris Sammarone was effective on both sides of the ball. He punched in an 11 yard touchdown.

Canfield will move on to play Boardman in week 5. Boardman is 2-2.

 

LEOPARDS FALL JUST SHORT IN DOVER

DOVER OH- After a 90-minute storm delay, the Dover Tornadoes held on to beat the Louisville Leopards 19-10.
Dover jumped out and got two scores in the first quarter on the arm and legs of Ayden Hall.  He ended the game with 2 TD’s through the air and one on the ground.
Nathan Ravine caught 2 TD passes.

Myles Lab connected on a 32 yard FG to start the scoring for Louisville. Tyler Jackson threw a TD  pass to Zack Seaman for the Leopards lone touchdown. Andrew Essik ran great for the Leps at RB for a 100-yard game.

Zack Seaman played an outstanding game on both sides of the ball.
The defensive line played outstanding for the Leopards.
