EAST PALESTINE GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH WILL FRANKLIN

EAST PALESTINE OH- The 2020 season was exciting for the East Palestine girls program. In a very strange season plagued by COVID uncertainty the Bulldogs were rewarded an EOAC championship trophy. It was their first in program history. While it’s true that the Bulldogs have lost a lot of their production from last season to graduation, the standard the seniors set still echos through the program. Head coach Will Franklin knows that building that winning culture is important for the future of the team.

Coach Franklin took the time to talk with our guys on YSN’s Running Point to help give us a preview of the season. He talks with Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about the Bulldogs culture, some names to keep an eye out for, and much more. Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Will Franklin is live.

It took a quarter of the game to find a rhythm, the Eagles only led 7-0 after one quarter. Two blocked punts for touchdowns in the second quarter seemed to be what struck the match for the Eagles though. It gave them a 22-0 lead. Joey Battista then found Jon’Trell Mixon for a score to make it 29-0 and let the Eagles run away with it.

Valley Christian will qualify for the OHSAA playoffs and await a Week 11 matchup. Stay tuned to YSN for further updates on schedules and pairings for postseason football.

EAST PALESTINE AND COLUMBIANA RESCHEDULE TO WEEK 11

EAST PALESTINE, OH- Disappointment cast a cloud over the rivalry of East Palestine and Columbiana earlier today when it was announced that the game would be postponed due to COVID-19 protocols in Bulldog Country.

However, it didn’t take long for both teams to agree to resurrect the game in Week 11 to maintain what is still one of the most heated rivalries in the EOAC.  Two teams that have the traveling trophy between them, and many bragging rights from year to year will still match up against each other in 2021.

That’s a big feather in the cap of both communities considering this will be one of the few (Sebring/Leetonia) that have been rescheduled this year.

“It’s been a long-standing rivalry and we always want to play them. If we were forced to only choose one game to play in a season…it would be against our rival” says East Palestine Head Coach Tony Foster.

The game will be played in East Palestine on October 29th and will serve as Fall Senior Night for Bulldog Activities.

UNITED SOARS PAST BULLDOGS

HANOVERTON OH- United jumped on East Palestine from the start on Friday night and never looked back. They soared their way to 47-12 win over East Palestine.

Jesse Lipp ran well for Palestine. He gained 122 yards on 13 carries.

United will travel to Wellsville next week to try and keep pace in the EOAC. East Palestine will try and get their first win against Columbiana at home.

LISBON SECURES FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

EAST PALESTINE OH- In Friday night’s matchup between East Palestine, and Lisbon someone was going to walk away with their first win of the season. When the smoke cleared, it was the Blue Devils that earned the victory 28-6.

Austin Dailey had a fantastic night for the Blue Devils. He finished with 137 yards on 11 carries. He had a pair of touchdowns. One on the ground, and one with a reception. Trevor Siefke was efficient through the air. He went 8-10 with 193 yards.

East Palestine got 115 yards on the ground from 23 carries from Jesse Lipp. Their lone touchdown came on the legs of Owen Jurjavicic.

Lisbon will try to start a win streak next week as they host Wellsville. East Palestine will travel to United.
