WHALE OF A PLAYER

SEBRING, OH – There have been a handful great basketball players that have walked through the doors of Sebring McKinley High School over the years and all of which have had similar qualities about how they played the game. These players have all been great students, great players on the court, and most of all, great leaders. When you attend Sebring McKinley High School, you look up to the classes before you and you have the ability to emulate these greats and one such player who is looking to etch her name in the same category as these greats before her is Emma Whaley.

Emma is currently in the middle of her senior season at Sebring McKinley and that role of being a senior leader seems to be something she was born to do! Whaley not only gets it done on the court where she is currently leading the team in scoring but also in the classroom as she is an excellent student. Emma also has a unique ability to be a leader on the court by being one of the smartest players on the floor. Coach Mathias is able to trust Whaley to help guide the team on the floor almost like a second coach on the floor! Emma’s talent doesn’t go unnoticed but when asked about her play, she is always first to give credit to her teammates for helping her succeed but not only that, she is a team first player and will do anything it takes to get the win. That mindset has rubbed off on her teammates too as the Lady Trojans are playing great basketball so far this year!

YSN’s own, DJ Yokley, had the opportunity to talk with Emma via video chat this week to discuss her senior campaign so far, what it means to be a Lady Trojan, how she keeps her focus throughout the season to keep getting better each day, what her expectations are for this season, and much much more!

Take some time this week to check out this exclusive interview with Sebring Lady Trojans star senior, Emma Whaley!
