THY KING DOM COME

In East Palestine, Senior- Dominick Posey has been going about his business between the lines in such a professional manner.  He doesn’t pander for admiration, he is a staple in the community, and he continues to get the job done on the floor for the Bulldogs.

Posey continues to be not only one of East Palestine’s finest athletes in recent history but is persistent in building his legacy on the basketball court.  Posey’s athleticism makes him a constant x-factor in every coaches meeting around the area, and is one of the main reasons he will be playing sports at the next level, and makes him King of the court in East Palestine.

Could it be possible that his legacy is just getting started?

LEETONIA BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH JOHN HRITZ (EP 1)

In Leetonia, you don’t play just a team, you play the entire village.  Small but mighty in so many ways are the Leetonia Bears, and the 2019 Girls Basketball Team is no different.  Led by legendary Coach John Hritz, the Bears are playing with a chip on their shoulder.

The Bears have started off red-hot, but are fighting to keep pace in the EOAC.

YSN’s Corey Yoakam sat down with Coach Hritz to discuss the expectations of the Lady Bears, and how Leetonia has to do things a bit different than most schools.

TOO LIGGETT TO QUIT

Senior Clipper Cager, Tessa Liggett has had quite the campaign with Columbiana.  She’s known for her incredible skill on the court, but her accomplishments in the classroom are notable as well.  Flanked by 1000-point scorers this year, Tess has made a career of outworking her opponents.  Flying under the radar hasn’t been such a bad thing, as with most teams Liggett would be the team’s top scorer, but as we’ve seen in the professional ranks, it’s a team full of superstars that win championships.

With diamonds on her mind, Tessa and her team are building for the long-haul.  Their focus is firmly set on championships at the highest levels.  As you’ll hear in our sit-down with her, Liggett is looking to engineer things in her near future, and that very well could start with an EOAC Championship in 2019.

YSN’s Mark Franken sat down with Tessa for this week’s Columbiana Player Profile: TOO LIGGETT TO QUIT!

COLUMBIANA COACH’S CORNER WITH TODD JOHNSON (EP 2)

The Clippers are back and are led by Third-year Skipper Todd Johnson.  The Clippers are still searching for consistency, but it’s the depth of the bench and a couple 3rd-year starters in leadership positions is something that Coach J is looking to pay off this year.

Is this the year that the Clippers retake their throne at the top of the league?

YSN’s Mark Franken sits down with Coach to discuss the year ahead, and what the expectations are for the Red and White.

Are the Clips the front-runners for the EOAC?  Can they knock-off the returning champs in Toronto?

All that and more in the year’s second edition of Columbiana Coach’s Corner with Todd Johnson!

EAST PALESTINE COACH’S CORNER WITH WILL FRANKLIN (EP 3)

It’s Episode 3 with Coach Will Franklin, and we’ve learned a few things.  The YSN cameras and mics are the same as The Lady Bulldogs: Rolling.  The hot streak for Coach “Frank” and his team is coming at the right time as they are learning who they are, and what they are capable of.  *SPOILER ALERT*  They are just scratching the surface.

After a great stretch, the Lady Dogs have celebrated Christmas, and have rung in 2019, and as they prepare for a battle with EOAC Rival, Columbiana, we chatted it up with the Head Ball Coach and what he attributes to the success, as well as what type of resolutions he’s making in the New Year for himself, and his team!

All that and more on this- Third Episode of East Palestine Coach’s Corner with Will Franklin!

DRIVING THE BUS

There’s certain momentum in Bulldog Country these days!  Coach Franklin has the East Palestine Girls Basketball team hitting on all cylinders, and leading the way is one of the teams top rebounders and Senior, Sara Buskirk.  “Buzz” as they affectionately refer to her has been in the program for 4 years and has seen the shift in the culture, and spirit over her tenure.  This year, Sara has jumped at the opportunity of her role on the hardwood and serves as a pillar of the team’s success.

We had a chance to pick her brain after her career-best ballgame and ask her about what makes her tick, and what (and who) motivates her on and off the court.  This week’s East Palestine Player Profile is with Sara Buskirk: DRIVING THE BUS.
