THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND; MR. JOE EITEL

CANFIELD, OH – Usually around the beginning of October, everyone in the Mahoning Valley begins thinking one thing, high school playoff football. When people think of the OHSAA State Playoffs, one name and only one name is the linked directly to it, Mr. Joe Eitel. Mr. Eitel is the sole operator of joeeitel.com which is a website that he created and runs every single year that accurately projects the playoff rankings for every single high school football team in the state of Ohio. His rankings are so accurate that OHSAA has given him the “keys to the kingdom” when it comes to releasing this information to the public. Eitel has also aided in developing the formula that is used for calculating all of the primary points, secondary points, the maximum points possible, minimum points possible, who is mathematically eliminated, and the divisor that many of us hear about but don’t fully understand.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with the “Guru of High School Football,” Mr. Joe Eitel, on a video call to discuss this magical system he has developed, what got Eitel started doing this process way back in 2000, what a typical week/weekend is like for him, what the formula actually means, and a never before seen look at the side of the playoffs from behind the analytics and data at the playoff scenarios for every YSN team that is in the hunt for a playoff birth this season.

Make sure you take some time out of your day to check out this very exclusive interview with Mr. Joe Eitel!
