IF YA SMELL WHAT TOROK IS COOKIN!

CANFIELD, OH – When talking to Coach Pavlansky and the rest of the Canfield community, the resounding answer to what makes this team so great, is senior leadership and the drive to never have the final game come. With that being said, this senior class has led the Cardinals to a perfect record so far and a match up with Streetsboro in the regional semi-finals this Friday night.

One of the leaders of this senior class is Logan Torok, the 6’3″ wideout. His size alone is enough to strike fear in opposing cornerbacks eyes but his athleticism and speed make him a match up nightmare. Logan has not only been able to dominate on offense but he is also able to be a vocal leader in the locker room, from the sidelines, and in the community. He has a unique ability to unite everyone on the team to get ready for a game and is always one of the most energized players on the field when his teammates make a big play!

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Logan this week via video chat to discuss his senior year so far, what it has been like to grow up as a Cardinal, what his plans are for after high school, a rapid fire question session to learn about some of that things that make Logan who he is, and much more!

THE CENTURY OF CENTOFANTI

POLAND, OH – The Poland Bulldogs are well known as one of the valley’s powerhouse football teams and that success can always be attributed to senior leadership that seems to always get passed down from class to class. This leadership comes from experience, the passion for the game, the success that each class seems to always have, and then the drive to never let their last game come. When you think of this current senior class, no one embodies this mindset better than Andrew Centofanti!

Andrew is a wide receiver and defensive back for the Bulldogs, who prides himself on always making the big plays no matter where he is lined up on the field. This big play capability is huge for Poland as he has been able to become one of the most reliable players when Coach Williams needs someone most. Not only does Centofanti’s play on the field speak for himself, he is also a vocal leader for this team! Andrew has a unique ability to pump everyone up before games and carry that excitement and passion through each quarter. He has that fire that can get everyone to get amped up on a big third down or when his teammates cross the goal line.

THE BLUEPRINT (VOL. 6)

LEAVITTSBURG, OH – When talking to the Labrae community and fans, the most common talking point is football. This passion and excitement surrounding the Vikings football team comes from a great program that is being built every week by Coach Armeni but also how the players believe in the team and themselves just as much as everyone else. This drive to succeed stems from great leadership on and off the field by many players within the LaBrae football family and one such leader is junior running back/defensive back, Devin Carter!

Devin has been on the varsity stage for three years but he has wasted no time showcasing his football talents as he is already LaBrae’s all time leading rusher! By proving his ability on the football field, Carter is able to lead by example but he is also an incredible teammate too. He is the first to give credit to everyone around him that helped him achieve his goals as an individual, such as his offensive linemen who create the holes and get great blocks to spring him free to pick up great yardage. Devin is also a great leader in the classroom and community, which is allowing him to create a buzz in the LaBrae area.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, had the opportunity to sit down with Devin this week via video chat to talk about his career so far as a Viking, what some of his goals are for this season as LaBrae is currently in the third round of the playoffs against Wickliffe, what his plans are for after high school, a rapid fire question session to learn some of the things that not many people know about himself, and much more!

Make sure to take some time to check out this exclusive player profile with LaBrae Vikings junior football star, Devin Carter!

ALWAYS LEAVE THEM WANTING MORELL

CANFIELD, OH – The surrounding theme of the Canfield Cardinals football team is the senior leadership and the tight-knit group that has been together for a long time and it shows! The senior leadership is such an integral part of this team that there isn’t just one senior leader but multiple. These leaders are spread out through all positions on the field and they all come together as a team. One of these leaders is defensive back, Luke Morell. Luke is one of those guys that lead by example and are always lurking around the ball no matter where it is on the field. He is always in the right spot at the right time to make a play for his defensive unit and is always first to be there to celebrate a big play with his teammates. His greatest attribute is his mentality of team over individual and because of that he has led this Canfield Cardinals football team to an undefeated record so far and has them currently in the third round of the 2020 OHSAA football playoffs.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, had the opportunity to chat with Luke this week via video chat to see what it has been like to play at Canfield for his career, what his goals are moving forward this season as the Cards are currently in the third round of the playoffs with a match up against Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, what Luke has planned for after high school, a rapid fire question session to learn about Luke and some of the things that not many people know about, and much more!
