EAGLES SMOKE SOUTHERN

HANOVERTON OH- United remains one of the only unbeaten teams in the area as they sweep Southern on Tuesday night (25-12 25-16 25-16).

Tori Tschappatt keeps leading the Eagles offense with 12 kills. Brooklyn Smith has a good night attacking as well with 7 kills. Haley Dees racked up 17 assists.

This sets up a big matchup between United and Wellsville on Thursday night, at Wellsville.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER

HANOVERTON, OH – Coming into this season, the United Golden Eagles were amped up and excited to get back on the field knowing that this was their year to make a splash in the EOAC and possibly even further. Leading the charge for United is a pair of seniors, Brutus Ogilvie and Keaton Baker. Not only are those two the big named duo, they are also the QB/WR tandem and leaders on the defensive end as well.

Last week, Ogilvie torched the Clippers secondary passing for 425 yards on 30 completions in 40 attempts. Baker had himself a day with 12 receptions for 255 yards.​ These two look to continue their hot streak in week two as they face the Lisbon Blue Devils.

EAGLES SOAR OVER HEARTLAND CHRISTIAN

HANOVERTON OH- United welcomes in a tough Heartland Christian squad on Saturday. They fought their way to a four set victory over the Lions to remain undefeated (25-23, 18-25, 27-25, 25-17).

Tori Tschappatt led the Eagles in kills with 12. Brooklyn Smith has a great day with 7 kills, 19 digs, and 5 aces. Madison Boyle led in digs with a solid 25. Haley Dees did an impressive job setting for United tallying 30 assists. Savannah Burton had 9 kills.

United moves to 6-0 and will host Southern at home on Tuesday. Heartland is now 2-3, and they’ll travel to Western Reserve on Wednesday.

EAGLES LOCK DOWN LEETONIA

LEETONIA OH- United Volleyball remained undefeated Thursday night with a sweep of Leetonia (25-19 25-15 25-14).

Tori Tschappatt led the Eagles attack with 11 kills. Haley Dees kept serving well with 21 assists. Savannah Burton served up 5 aces, and also swung well with 5 kills. Madison Boyle led the defense with 14 digs.

United will try to keep their unbeaten record in tact as they host Heartland Christian on Saturday.

UNITED TAKES BATTLE OF THE EAGLES

HANOVERTON OH- United remains undefeated after a 3-0 sweep of Valley Christian on Tuesday night (25-21 25-15 25-13).

Tori Tschappatt led the Eagles attack with 11 kills. Haley Dees set up 15 assists. Savannah Burton served very well gathering 7 aces.

United improves to 4-0 and will return to action on Thursday as they travel to Leetonia.

UNITED GETS LAST LAUGH IN BACK AND FORTH AFFAIR

COLUMBIANA OH- The Week 1 matchup between Columbiana and United was highly anticipated in the EOAC. It did not disappoint the hype. Both teams traded blows but the Eagles were the ones to throw the final punch and win 31-20.

After seeing their game be postponed an extra day, United and Columbiana got things rolling quick. They were all square after a half, tied up at 13-13. Columbiana had a chance to score before the break.

United’s line started to wear down the  Clipper defense in the second half as they were running at will. It set up the pass game as Brutus Ogilvie connected on a 60 yard TD pass to Keaton Baker to take a 19-13 lead.

Columbiana responded quickly as Colin Schick found a seem up the middle to run back the kick return to give the Clippers a 20-19 lead.

Things turned sour quick for the Clippers however, as United scored the final two touchdowns of the game  to seal a 31-20 victory.

QUAKERS SERVE UP WIN OVER UNITED

SALEM OH- The Salem girls tennis team picked up a win in their first match of the season on Monday with a 4-1 win over United.

UNITED SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EPISODE 1 WITH SAM MATHIAS)

HANOVERTON OH- The United softball team definitely took their lumps last season. The 3 win season was not the outcome anybody wanted. But it did give the Head Coach Sam Mathias and his Eagles plenty of chances to put young kids in big situations. The growth has led to some great things for the program this season. They came in fully expecting to compete in the EOAC. With the breakout of COVID-19, those aspirations for the 2020 season are in jeopardy. The uncertainty will not stop this Eagles squad from being prepared to go if they get the green light to be back on the field.

LATE SHOT GROUNDS EAGLES; LISBON DEFEATS UNITED

HANOVERTON, OH – When the Lisbon Blue Devils entered United’s gym on Friday night, one think was on their minds, revenge. United went into Lisbon on January 31st and caught them off guard, winning 67-52. This time however, the Blue Devils took a stand on United’s home floor and won 46-45.

The first quarter saw Lisbon’s shooters take over en route to four quick three pointers. By halftime, the Blue Devils were in control 31-16. The second half however saw the Golden Eagles chip away consistently, ultimately taking a one point lead late in the fourth quarter, 45-44. At that point, Lisbon’s Ryan McCullough took the ball the length of the floor and hit a floater just over the out stretched hand of the United defender with just under 10 seconds remaining. United then had an opportunity at the buzzer as Keaton Baker’s three point attempt fell just short.

The United Golden Eagles were led by Nate Miller with 14 points and Keaton Baker with 9 points.

The Lisbon Blue Devils were led by Ryan McCullough with 16 points and 6 assists. Michael Davis added 11 points and 6 rebounds, as well as, Blayne Brownfield chipping in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Nic Mundy also added 6 rebounds on the night.

Up next for Lisbon (9-11) will be their final home game of the regular season next Tuesday night, as they host the Brookfield Warriors. United (3-17) will hit the road in their next contest, as they will travel down to Malvern to take on the Hornets on Tuesday.

GOLDEN EAGLES SOAR PAST BLUE DEVILS

LISBON, OH – The United Golden Eagles boys basketball team came into tonight coming off of a thrilling victory in their last game and looked to keep the wins coming as they took on the Lisbon Blue Devils. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they kept their foot on the gas and executed all night while hitting some key three pointers. When it was all said and done, United left Lisbon with a 61-45 victory.

The United Golden Eagles were led by Keaton Baker with a career-high 33 points, 7 boards, and 4 dimes while connecting on 7 threes.  Nate Miller had 14 and Steffen Jarrett also added 11 points.

The Lisbon Blue Devils were led by Michael Davis with 29 points. His 9 threes made set a new single-game school record. Ryan McCullough chipped in with 9 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Blayne Brownfield was all over the glass, claiming 9 rebounds on the night.

Up next for United (2-13) is a home game against Jackson Milton on Tuesday, February 4th.

The Lisbon Blue Devils (7-10) are also back in action on Tuesday, February 4th, as they will welcome the East Palestine Bulldogs to town.
