NOT TOO SCHAABY
CANFIELD, OH- Lucia Schaab, a senior cheerleader at Canfield High School, recently joined Steve Leslie on the YSN Podcast to discuss her final year on the cheerleading squad, her deep-rooted family traditions, and her future aspirations.
Lucia, who has been cheerleading since the 8th grade, spoke fondly of the bond she shares with her fellow senior cheerleaders. “From the first year that I cheered with them, we have always said we are just a grade that’s always clicked,” Lucia shared, emphasizing the unique camaraderie within the squad.
Family plays a pivotal role in Lucia’s life. Every Sunday, her family gathers for dinner, sharing pasta, card games, and quality time together. “My parents are in the stands every game. My cousins always come, my aunts, my uncles, my brother,” she said, highlighting the unwavering support from her loved ones.
Lucia also touched on the rigorous summer training regimen that the squad undergoes, involving daily practices and intensive training sessions. “The summers are probably the most exhausting part,” she admitted. However, despite the challenges, Lucia finds joy in the team dinners and the spirited atmosphere that accompanies game nights.
Looking ahead, Lucia has set her sights on a career in nursing, specifically in pediatric or NICU nursing. With a love for anatomy and a passion for helping others, she confidently expressed her future goals while acknowledging the impact Canfield High School has had on her education.
As her senior year progresses and graduation looms closer, Lucia remains optimistic about the future. “I really only have one more year, and once that last game is over, there’s no more,” she reflected, contemplating the swift passage of time.
Lucia’s story exemplifies the dedication, hard work, and community spirit that define Canfield High School. Her journey serves as an inspiration to fellow students and cheerleaders, demonstrating the importance of teamwork, family, and perseverance.
