AUSTINTOWN FITCH GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH SAMANTHA MARSCIO

AUSTINTOWN OH- It is officially soccer season in the valley! When you talk about the Austintown Fitch girls program, the word excellence comes to mind. Fitch has a standard for excellence on and off the field in every sport they offer, and soccer is no different. Even though scoring became an issue for the team last season, the amount of experience they return promises to fix that problem. Head coach Samantha Marscio is in her second year at the helm, and she is happy to be back to a normal season. Taking over a program is tough, taking it over during COVID 19 is even tougher. Fitch opens the season on August 25th against Howland.

Coach Marscio was kind enough to stop by YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about the Falcons program. She chats with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about who will lead their team this season, their tough schedule, and much more. Check out Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Samantha Marscio.

SPRINGFIELD GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JUSTIN KOSEK

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield is one of the most successful girls soccer programs the area has seen in the last two seasons. The Tigers have only lost three games in two years. The Tigers are coming off a 15-1 season, but a disappointing ending, losing to United 2-0 in the District semifinals. Springfield returns seven starters from a season ago, two of which were named 1st team all district in 2020. They do lose the YDSSCA Division III Player of the Year in Kylee Kosek. The core is still there and that gives head coach Justin Kosek reasons to be optimistic. Coach Kosek is 18 wins away from 100 in his career, and a deep tournament run might just get him there.

Coach Kosek was kind enough to stop by YSN’s Running Point this week to preview the 2021 season. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about his own journey to be a head coach, building team chemistry, and much more.
