BROOKFIELD DRIVES IN MVAC VICTORY

BROOKFIEKD OH- In an exciting golf match, Brookfield emerged victorious with a score of 184-203 against LaBrae.

Brookfield’s top performers showcased their skills on the green, with Brayden DeMaria leading the charge with a score of 43. Hunter Warrender closely followed with a score of 44, while Cody Davidson posted a respectable 45. Bray Coleman contributed a score of 52, and Aeryn Berena rounded out the team’s efforts with a score of 58. David DeJoy completed the lineup with a score of 65.

LaBrae’s team put up a valiant effort, with Austin Rowe leading the way with a score of 44. Christian Haught followed with a score of 49, and Dylan Simpson recorded a score of 54. Adam Bartholemew contributed a score of 56, while Jack Simpson and Bryce Taylor posted scores of 63 and 68 respectively.

Ultimately, it was Brookfield’s consistent performance that secured the victory, demonstrating their prowess on the golf course. Both teams showcased their dedication and skill, making for an engaging match that highlighted the talent of the players.

IRISH FIND THE RIGHT STROKE

 

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Girls golf took center stage at Henry Stambaugh Golf Course Monday as Ursuline and Hubbard squared off.

It was the Irish who took home the victory 197-209 over the Eagles on a hot Monday afternoon. Ursuline’s Gia Schiavone led all golfers with a 44 on the day. The Irish also received contributions in the victory from Josie Bishara 48, Arianna Schivone shot a 52, Gaby Gasior shot a  53 and Lilly Ditz 55. Evan Flynn led the way for Hubbard carding a 51.

The Eagles’ Malorie Oyler and Maddie Fox recorded 52 respectively while teammate Kennedy Perline added a 54.

MOONEY NEEDED IT ALL TO GET PAST EAGLES

HUBBARD OH- Cardinal Mooney visited Hubbard on the links Monday in what turned into a match between two skilled golf programs. The Cardinals took the win by a slim 2 stroke margin 157-159 over the Eagles at Pine Lakes Golf Course.

Medalist honors went to the Cardinals Rocco Turner with an impressive round of 34. Teammate Dante Turner contributed a solid round himself carding a 38. Mooney also received contributions to the victory from Alex Eckstein 41 and Tyler Guerrieri 42.

Hubbard was led by Garrett Brojkovich’s round of 40. Geno Leshnack and Colten Smith each turned in a 42 on the day for the Eagles.

Each squad is back on the inks Tuesday as Cardinal Mooney visits Austintown Fitch, while Hubbard hosts Lakeview.

FALCONS SNEAK PAST HOWLAND

LAKE MILTON OH-  Old Dutch Mill was the site of a key AAC clash between Austintown Fitch and the Howland Tigers golf teams. The Falcons did just enough to earn the 6 stroke victory 175-181 over the Tigers on Monday.

Carson Fuller took medalist honors carding a 42, teammates Evan James and Joey Wallet each carded a 44 in the victory for the Falcons. Howland was led by Bode Biggin and Anthony Palumbo each scoring 44 respectively.

Both teams return to action Tuesday, Austintown hosts Cardinal Mooney, Howland travels to Canfield.

SPARTANS SEAL A CONFERENCE VICTORY

WARREN OH- The Boardman Spartans golf team came out ready to score as they welcomed AAC foe Warren Harding to Mill Creek on Monday. Score is what the Spartans did as they took down the Raiders 166-206 on a steamy August day.

Leading the way for Boardman was Cooper Mraz and Chase Zelesnak carding 41 respectively. Ben Kaufman and Zach Ganser each garnered a 42, while Luke Dejoseph contributed a round of 43. The Spartans return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Stambaugh to take on Ursuline.

RAIDERS SIT ATOP TRI MATCH STANDINGS

CANFIELD OH- South Range boys golf had an impressive showing on Wednesday in a tri match against both Poland and Lakeview. The Raiders ended at the top of the field when it was all said and done, sending a strong message to the other teams in the NE8.

Jack Carey was the low scorer of the day for the Raiders finishing with a 36.  Griffin Pahanish was right behind his teammate finishing with a 37.  Michael Garwacki shot a solid 38.  Zander DiMuzio, and Luke Rohan both finished with a 42.  Evan McGrath completed the Raider scoring with a 44.

SPRINGFIELD FINDS THE WINNING STROKE

LOWELLVILLE OH- Springfield boys golf team earned a nice MVAC victory on Thursday. The win is the Tigers second in a row in league play coming off a win against Lowellville.

Jackson Ensley was the medalist with a score of 37 for the Tigers.  John Brungard (43), Cooper Ensley (43), and Sam Swansiger (54) played well in the victory.

Next up for the Tigers is a match against Mineral Ridge on Monday at Old Dutch Mill.  Tee off time is set for 10:00am.

VIKINGS RACK UP A BIG MVAC VICTORY

LAKE MILTON OH- Waterloo and MIneral Ridge squared off Thursday looking to cement their status as one of the top golf teams in the MVAC in 2023.

It was the Vikings who garnered that status as they came away with a 167-174 victory over the Rams at Old Dutch Mill. Jackson Eichler took medalist honors posting a 38. Teammates Clayton Smith 40, Trevor Simons 44 and Drew Flarida 45 all posted solid scores in the Vikings victory.

MIneral Ridge was led by Trey Rigley who carded a 39. The Rams also received contributions from  AJ Sandy 42, Jackson Geddes 45, Keaton Kucera and Cody Gongaware each shooting 48.

BRAVES CLAIM TOP SPOT IN LOCAL TRI MATCH

COLUMBIANA OH- The Badger Braves were up for a challenge as they traveled to Columbiana for a tri match on Wednesday. The Braves swept the competition posting a low score of 142 defeating Columbiana and McDonald at Valley.

Badger was led by Austin Mariani, Hudson Rice and Ian Tricker all shooting a low round 34. Columbiana carded a team score of 162 as Rocco Crawford and Anthony Hall each posted 37. McDonald totaled 173 and was led by Chris Ragozzine’s 43.

LABRAE SHOOTS FOR MVAC WIN

LEAVITTSBURG OH- The Labrae Vikings took to the links Wednesday looking for an early MVAC statement. That statement was served as the Vikings came away with a 164-177 victory over Crestview at Beaver Creek Meadows.

Austin Rowe led the way, carding a 35 for Labrae.  Luke Requardt posted a 41 and Peyton Conkle contriburted a 44 for the Rebels.

Both teams return to action Thursday as Crestview travels to Liberty, Labrae is scheduled to host Garfield.
