PANCAKE MAKING REBEL NATION PROUD

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview’s swimming scene is being revolutionized by none other than freshman Kyla Pancake. In an exclusive interview with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig, Pancake opened up about her unconventional journey as the sole swimmer representing her school and her remarkable achievements in her inaugural season.

Kyla Pancake stands out as the pioneering swimmer of Crestview, braving the waters solo. Despite being the only member of the swim team, Pancake’s commitment and determination have propelled her to the district championships. Her journey began at the tender age of seven, with serious competitive swimming taking off when she was ten. Pancake’s growth as a swimmer is fueled by the support system surrounding her, including friends, teachers, and an encouraging coach who constantly pushes her to exceed her limits. This steadfast support has been instrumental in achieving her significant time drop in the 100 breaststroke, hitting a personal best of 1:12 at a recent meet.

Her motivation stems from her personal goals and the camaraderie with her teammates, who constantly encourage her to surpass her limits. This synergy between personal drive and external support is a testament to her swiftly rising confidence as an individual competing in solo events like swimming. Her scholastic journey through high school, although challenging with courses like Biology, is punctuated by favorites such as Algebra 1, and enriched by the backing of her close friends. Her dedication, whether in academics or athletics, is unwavering. Looking ahead, Pancake aspires to reach the state level, inspired by role models who instill in her the “state mindset.” This determination and belief in her abilities bolster her aspirations to leave a significant mark during her high school swimming tenure.

In closing, Pancake expressed gratitude towards her coaches, teammates, and family—all pivotal in fostering her growth and success. As she prepares to compete at the district level at Cleveland State, Kyla Pancake is not only a beacon of her school’s swimming potential but also a rising star with a promising future in the sport. YSN and the Crestview community eagerly anticipate Pancake’s continued success and are proud of her remarkable achievements thus far.
