RESERVE CAN FLY WITH IZZY ANYTIME
BERLIN CENTER OH- There’s no denying that Western Reserve took a hit with the graduation of a lot of talent last season. From offensive power to solid back-row defenders, there were plenty of gaps to fill. However, one spot that wasn’t in question was having someone who could finish at the net—thanks to senior Izzy Mauro. She’s been a consistent force, making sure that putting the ball away isn’t an issue.
Izzy is a beast in the middle, dominating both offensively and defensively. She’s quietly putting together one of the most impressive statistical seasons across the YSN network, making an impact in every match. Her presence at the net is felt by every opponent, whether she’s hammering down a kill or stuffing an attack at the net.
But her stats aren’t even the most important thing she brings to the Blue Devils. Izzy’s leadership and steady attitude are what this young team needs most. With plenty of players getting their first taste of varsity action, she’s been the rock, showing them the ropes and keeping the team focused. She leads by example, lighting the way for the next wave of Western Reserve talent.
Izzy’s numbers this season are nothing short of impressive. She’s racked up 172 kills so far, averaging a solid 5.2 per set, making her a go-to offensive weapon for Western Reserve. On the defensive side, she’s just as impactful with 34 blocks and showing her all-around game with 100 digs already in the books. Whether it’s slamming down kills or getting low for digs, Izzy is a complete player who gets it done in every phase of the game.
Off the court, Izzy’s got big plans. Coming from a military family, she has aspirations of joining the Air Force. And if that doesn’t pan out, she’s got her sights set on NASA. Her passion for engineering and restoring cars speaks to her drive, and no matter where she lands, she’s sure to make an impact.
As the season goes on, keep an eye on Western Reserve—they’re starting to click, and Izzy will continue to be a highlight reel, making big plays night after night. She’s a difference-maker, and she’s not done yet.
