UNITED FORCES THREE WAY TIE ATOP EOAC

HANOVERTON OH- United has to regroup quickly this week coming off of a tough loss to Southern in Week 5. They had no time to feel sorry for themselves as an undefeated Leetonia Bears team came to town wanting to win the outright EOAC championship. United has other plans however as they dominated Leetonia 41-8 to earn a share of the EOAC title. With Southern winning against Valley Christian, there is a three way tie at the top of the conference.

The United offense dropped 41 points and over 400 yards of offense on a Leetonia team that had allowed under 10 points a game in the season. Brutus Ogilvie went 15-26 for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Leetonia ran for 148 yards on the night. The yards came from the tandem runners of Dylan Durick and Jacob McCool.

United has a bye in round 1 of the OHSAA playoffs and awaits the winner of Canton Central Catholic vs Tusky Valley. Leetonia will also have a bye in the playoffs in await the winner of Wellsville vs Buckeye Central.

BEARS OVERCOME EARLY DEFICIT AND PREVAIL

CAMPBELL OH – Valley Christian Eagles have a home game at Campbell Memorial high school as they take on the Leetonia Bears. As both teams come into tonight’s contest (1-0).

 Both defenses started off strong as the Eagles would force a fumble and recover it inside Leetonia’s 15-yard line. Eagles running back, Cameron Davenport would take advantage of the Bears turnover and rush for his first touchdown of the night to take the lead 7-0. Leetonia’s next drive they would fumble once again inside the 20-yard line. Davenport would rush into the endzone for his second touchdown to extend their lead 14-0. Leetonia would then answer back later in the 2nd quarter with a Jacob McCool 1-yard rush touchdown and a Marco Ferry 2-point conversion to cut the deficit to 14-8 to end the half.

Coming out of halftime Leetonia would get an onside kick and drive down the field as McCool would score his second touchdown and Ferry with his second 2-point conversion to take their first lead 16-14. Leetonia would kickoff to the Eagles after the score and would strip the ball out and force a turnover. With great field position, the Bears would run the ball down into the red zone as Marco Ferry would rush for his first touchdown and then converting a 2-point conversion to give Leetonia a lead of 24-14. Valley Christian would not be able to get past Leetonia’s strong defense the rest of the game as Leetonia’s Dylan Durick would have two sacks and a fumble recovery to during the game is a key factor in stopping the Eagles offense. As the 4th quarter started Leetonia would get into the endzone for the final time with McCool’s third rushing touchdown and giving Leetonia a victory in a 32-14 game.

Leetonia would advance to (2-0) and take on Lisbon at home next week. Valley Christian will fall to (1-1) as they will travel to Columbiana to take on the Clippers.
