SOUTH RANGE TAKES THRILLER IN MYRTLE

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- South Range snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-8 victory over Bay on Monday. The Raiders trailed 8-7 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Gaven Nagy singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

A five-run lead in the fourth inning was just enough for South Range to hold off Bay for the victory. The Rockets scored six runs in the failed comeback on an error, a walk by Billy Willmitch, a walk by Bird, a single by Buttone, and a single by Charlie Rodgers.

The Raiders captured the lead in the first inning. Logan Baxter drew a walk, scoring one run.

After Bay scored one run in the top of the third, South Range answered with one of their own. The Rockets scored when Chesterfield singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. The Raiders then answered when Tyson Tarajack doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

South Range put up four runs in the fourth inning. Nick Plunkett, Billy Skripac, and Tarajack powered the big inning with RBIs.

Joe Aey got the win for South Range. The righty went two innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three. Jake Shumate threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Carter Ormsby took the loss for the Rockets. Ormsby surrendered four runs on six hits over three innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Konnor Brogan started the game for South Range. Brogan surrendered six runs on three hits over four innings, striking out five Meade started the game for Bay. Meade went three innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out four

South Range racked up ten hits in the game. Nagy, Plunkett, and Tarajack each managed multiple hits for the Raiders. Tarajack, Plunkett, and Nagy each collected two hits to lead South Range Varsity Raiders.

South Range will be in action on Tuesday at the Ripken Experience in a double header at 11am, and 1:30 on YSN.

WHITING HOLDS ON AGAINST A2Z

STRUTHERS OH-

A2Z effort to come back from down nine runs in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 9-8 to Whiting Roll-Offs on Saturday.  A2Z put up seven runs in the failed comeback. Blake Jeffries, Carson Bish,  Matt Paparodis, Joe Aey, Chris Denney, and Aiden Thompson all picked up RBIs in the rally.

A2Z fell behind early in the loss.  Whiting took the lead on a single in the first inning.

Whiting fired up the offense in the first inning.  Grant Melder singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

A2Z notched six runs in the sixth inning.  Their big bats were led by Jeffries, Bish, Paparodis, and Aey, all driving in runs in the frame.

Whiting scored six runs in the fifth inning.  Their big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by Nate Thomas and Grayson Hooks and doubles by Ben Miller and Corbin Sevcik.

Joey Pugh earned the win for Whiting. He allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one.  

Jeffries took the loss for A2Z. He allowed four hits and three runs over three and a third innings, striking out three.

A2Z tallied six hits in the game.  Aey and Matt Boccieri each managed multiple hits.  Boccieri and Aey each collected two hits to lead.

Whiting collected seven hits on the day.  Melder and Miller each had multiple hits.

A2Z PITCHES THEIR WAY TO NEXT ROUND

STRUTHERS OH-

A2Z defeated Creekside Fitness 5-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Joe Aey induced a fly out from Michael Patellis to finish off the game.

A2Z got things moving in the first inning.  Chris Denney drove in one when he singled.

A2Z tallied three runs in the sixth inning.  The batters contributing to the big inning included Carson Bish and Tyler Canfield, all knocking in runs in the inning.

One bright spot for Creekside was a single by Carmine White in the seventh inning.

Aiden Thompson got the win for A2Z. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out eight.  Aey threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Aey recorded the last six outs to earn the save for A2Z.

Brady Loew took the loss for   Creekside Fitness. He allowed three hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two.

Danny Nittoli, Blake Jeffries, Denney, Bish, and Matt Boccieri each collected one hit to lead A2Z.

White led Creekside with one hit in two at bats.

A2Z KEEPS ON ROLLING

A2Z had all cylinders firing on offense on Thursday, winning big over Avalanche 12-2

In the first inning, A2Z got their offense started when Matt Boccieri doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

A2Z tallied five runs in the third inning.  Their offense in the inning was led by Carson Bish, Matt Paparodis, Joe Aey, and Tyler Canfield, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Paparodis was the winning pitcher for A2Z. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out six.

Zach Livosky took the loss for Avalanche. He allowed five hits and five runs over two innings.

Danny Nittoli led A2Z with two hits in two at bats.

A2Z STAYS HOT AGAINST BALLISTIC

A2Z grabbed an early lead on its way to an 11-1 victory over Ballistic Baseball on Thursday.  A2Z scored on a double by Matt Paparodis in the first inning.

Joe Aey was the winning pitcher for A2Z. He surrendered one run on two hits over two innings, striking out two. 

Dom Elia took the loss for Ballistic Baseball.  He lasted four innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out two.

A2Z scattered nine hits in the game.  Blake Jeffries and Aiden Thompson each racked up multiple hits.  Thompson and Jeffries all had two hits to lead.  A2Z didn’t commit a single error in the field. Chris Denney had the most chances in the field with five.  

Ryan Conti went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ballistic in hits.

A2Z JUMP AHEAD EARLY TO BEAT PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH-

A2Z jumped out to an early lead over Prospects and took home a 7-3 victory on Wednesday.  A2Z scored on a stolen base by Aiden Thompson, a walk by Matt Paparodis, and a single by Joe Aey in the first inning.

A2Z earned the victory despite allowing Prospects to score three runs in the first inning.  Prospects big inning was driven by singles by Caleb Hadley and Mike Condolen and a groundout by Carter Knupp.

Carson Bish led things off on the hill for A2Z. He allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five.

Cobey Airwikie toed the rubber for Prospects.  He lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero hits and three runs. 

Aey led A2Z with two hits in two at bats.

ROTH BROTHERS WALKS OFF A2Z

It came down to the last play, but A2Z was on the wrong end of an 11-10 defeat to Roth Brothers on Tuesday.  Roth trailed 10-8 in the bottom of the fifth inning when CJ Frasco doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Despite the loss, A2Z did collect five hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately for them, Roth had seven hits on the way to victory.

A2Z got on the board in the first inning when Aiden Thompson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Luke Gehring led things off on the mound for Roth. He lasted five innings, allowing five hits and ten runs while striking out five.

Joe Aey was on the pitcher’s mound for A2Z. He went two innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.  Parker Dobson and Matt Boccieri entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Thompson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits.

Roth had seven hits in the game.  Dylan Casey and Gabe Saunders all managed multiple hits.

PROSPECTS RESPOND TO BEAT A2Z

STRUTHERS OH-

A2Z fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-3 loss to Prospects on Monday.  Prospects took the lead on a single in the first inning.

Prospects got on the board in the first inning when Freddie Bolchalk singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Bolchalk got the start for Prospects. He allowed five hits and three runs over four and a third innings, striking out six.

Joe Aey led things off on the hill for A2Z. He surrendered four runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one.  Hunter Swidzinski, Blake Jeffries, and Matt Paparodis each contributed in relief.

Danny Nittoli went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead A2Z in hits.

Prospects collected seven hits.  Kris Hrosar and Coby Airwikie all managed multiple hits.
