CANFIELD BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JOHN CULLEN

CANFIELD, OHIO- The Canfield Cardinals have had a successful season, including wins against powerhouse teams such as Ursuline and Chaney. Canfield has been led by Head Coach, John Cullen. Cullen has been around this game long enough to know when he has a true contender of a team. Cullen has kept his squad prepared very every obstacle that they have faced. The next obstacle is the Marlington Dukes in a matchup that will be for the Sectional Championship and as well as a trip to the District Semi-Finals.

Coach John Cullen had the opportunity to sit down and talk with YSN’s Matt Morrison as they discuss certain mindsets and goals that he and his team have on their list of objectives. Check out this exclusive interview only on YSN!

CANFIELD OH- South Range boys basketball team has been anxious to get back on the floor for a while now. With no scrimmages available in the summer, or in the weeks leading up to the season, just being able to lace up and play another team was a blessing for the Raiders. Head Coach John Cullen is going in to his seventh season at South Range. He is ready to lead a young team to a successful season this year.

Coach Cullen called in to YSN’s talk show Running Point this week to catch up with DJ Yokley and Steve Leslie. They discuss the challenges this season has presented, his perspective on accountability, and a whole lot more. After a rocky road to begin the season for the South Range Raiders, Coach Cullen and the boys have bounced back to take the second half of the season by storm.

With a demanding schedule to finish the year still in front of them, the Burgundy and Gold prepare for the post-season to make their waves, which is turning into a right of passage at South Range.

We caught up with Coach Cullen for this week’s Coach’s Corner and discussed the season to this point, the character of this team, and what Coach C likes to do in his spare time.

In South Range, the reigns of the Hoops Program is run by legendary Coach, John Cullen.  Known for his Basketball IQ and the way he is able to transfer that knowledge onto the court for the Raiders is one of the biggest reasons for the success of the program under his watch.  As he’ll tell you, the other reasons come down to the execution of the game plan.  While the Raiders are having a successful campaign so far, Coach C knows and acknowledges that the biggest burdens are yet to come.

With all that being said, the Raiders are doing what the Raiders always do.  Win with what they have.  Not a tall team this year, South Range has had to create their opportunities by playing outstanding defense and setting the pace offensively.

YSN’s Brent Bigelow sat down with Coach Cullen to discuss how the team has faired thus far, as well as looking into the crystal ball for what’s to come.
