BEARS HANG ON AGAINST SOUTHERN

LEETONIA OH-

Leetonia comes into Friday’s matchup looking for revenge from last years game that Southern won 50-7 in week 10. Leetonia and Southern both started off slow in the first half as both teams scored zero points. The third quarter was a different story for both teams though. Leetonia came out strong as Jaedon Finley’s 42 yard run set up a Marco Ferry 5-yard touchdown run. Leetonia missed their 2-point conversion bringing their lead to 6-0. Southern bounced back two plays after the Leetonia touchdown with a Josh Pratt pass to Brad Sloan for a 49-yard touchdown. Southern’s Garret Brewer would convert their extra-point to take the lead 7-6 to end the 4th. After a couple of 4 and outs for both teams, Leetonia had a 58-yard rushing touchdown by Marco Ferry and a 2-point conversion by Ferry to take back the lead 14-7. Southern with only 5 minutes left to go in the fourth scored another passing touchdown to Timmy West to bring their score to 14-13. Southern attempted a 2-point conversion and got stuffed by Leetonia’s defense. Leetonia would get the onside kick recovery and run out the clock to secure the victory for the Bears.

Leetonia will head to Valley Christian to take on the (1-0) Eagles, and Southern will have a matchup against (1-0) Wellsville Tigers.
