RAPPING IT UP THE RIGHT WAY

COLUMBIANA OH- The senior year of Julia Rapp at Columbiana is almost at its end. She has already gotten a diploma, and now the only thing left is a place on the podium in the state track meet. Julia qualified for state in the 100, finishing 2nd in the region, as part of the 4×100 relay finishing 2nd in the region, and in the 200 where she placed 5th in the region.

This will be Rapp’s second year going to state. Now her expectations are much higher than last season. She’s not just happy to be there anymore, she wants to succeed. It wouldn’t be much of a shock if she went down to Columbus and found success. Julia finds success in every sport she plays. She is one of the premiere outside hitters in the district for volleyball, she hit .500 for softball, and of course she’s a great track star.

Rap has made the decision to continue running track at the next level. She is signed on as a division 1 athlete at Cleveland State. She’ll be running with and against some of the top programs in the region in the Horizon League which excels at track and field.  She’s also going from a small rural down to the middle of downtown Cleveland.

Rapp took the time to be on YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her senior year at Columbiana and Al the things she’s been able to accomplish. She talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Richie Juliano about the high and lows of her career, playing two sports in the same season, and so much more. THAT’S A RAPP

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana has a mixture of experience and new faces this year on the volleyball court. They lost key players last season like setter Grace Witmer, and libero Maci Linhart. In order for this team to mesh together with so many new players, the returning leaders had to step up. One of those returning leaders is Julia Rapp.

Julia is currently leading the Clippers in kills with 155. She also has 43 aces on the season, and 46 digs. She leads the team in blocks with a total of 18. Along with all of those great numbers comes s fantastic leader on the court for the Clippers. Julia has been a huge reason why the Clippers haven’t missed a beat after losing the players they did a year ago.

The community recognizes her talent as well, as they have voted her into the top spot of Baird Brothers Big Dog of the Valley in Week 4. Julia came on Running Point this week to talk about her senior year. Through some technical difficulties, she talked with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about winning Big Dogs, being a leader, and much more.
