THE CATCHER KNOWS BEST

COLUMBIANA OH- The position of catcher might be one of the most overlooked positions in sports. It is said that a catcher is only noticed when they make a mistake. By those standards, Crestview senior catcher Karsyn Moore goes unnoticed an awful lot.  However, she shines so bright that she breaks the protocol of catchers and is always one of the first your eyes go to on the field.

Karsyn is one of the best defensive catchers in the area. Not only would her defensive numbers back that up, more importantly her leadership of the defense is sufficient. Moore is a vocal catcher, which you have to be to be great. Any time you go watch Crestview softball even if you’re in the right field bleachers you’ll hear Karsyn call out the defense and get people in the right positions.

As far as numbers go, Moore is hitting .511 at the plate with 3 HR and 21 RBI. Behind the plate, she has not made a single error. She has 147 total chances with no mistakes.

MOORE AND SUTTON BOTH COMMIT TO AVE MARIA

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview stand outs Karsyn Moore, and Kaedyn Sutton have both committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at Ave Maria University in Florida.

In 2020 Karsyn Moore batted .400 for Crestview. She went the whole season without committing a single error behind the dish. Her future college coach Mike Kernan had high praise for her defense saying “Karsyn is the best all around defensive catcher I have coached during my career”

Sutton has shined in the circle since coming on the scene her freshman season at Crestview. In 2020, she finished with an ERA of 3.25. She pitched all but 20 of the innings pitched for her team.

Both Karsyn, and Kaedyn are two of the marquee players to watch come the new softball season as they’ll finish their careers at Crestview without needing to worry about their destinations after high school.
