BIRDS BOUNCE BACK; JFK TOPS VIKINGS

NILES, OH- On Saturday, Warren JFK took down LaBrae Vikings 6-3, thanks in large part to a standout performance at the plate by Taggart Carfangia, who went a perfect three-for-three at the dish.

The Eagles led by Carfangia, who was on fire, hitting singles in the second, fourth, and sixth innings. The Eagles started strong, scoring early in the first inning when Dominic Ryan walked, Michael Bartoe singled, and then Ryan scored from third on a tag up, followed by a LaBrae error that brought another run home.

The Eagles didn’t let up, adding another run in the second after Michael Condoleon hit a double to deepen their lead.

Ryan was solid on the mound, picking up the win for the Eagles. He pitched four innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four and walking two. Landon Brunstetter ended up with the loss for LaBrae, giving up six runs (five earned) over four innings, with four strikeouts and three walks. Caleb Hadley also made an appearance in relief for the Eagles, throwing a hitless, scoreless inning.

Bartoe, Condoleon, and Andrew Lapolla each chipped in with an RBI, helping to build the Eagles’ lead. Carfangia wasn’t just a threat with his bat; he also showed off his speed, stealing two bases during the game. Defensively, the Eagles were on point, turning a crucial double play.

For LaBrae, Dylan Simpson and Aiden Doll each contributed an RBI in an effort to keep the game within reach.

Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to host Aquinas on Monday, hoping to carry the momentum from Saturday’s win into their next game.  LaBrae will travel to Campbell to take on the Red Devils on Monday in a return to conference action.

MOGADORE FIGHTS BACK TO SPLIT WITH JFK

NILES, OH- In a tightly contested game that went the distance, Mogadore eked out a 5-3 victory over the Warren JFK Eagles on Tuesday. The game, held at Eastwood Field, showcased resilience and clutch performances, particularly from Mogadore’s pitcher Ronnie Skye, who also shined at the plate.

The scoring opened with Mogadore taking a modest lead in the first inning, but it was the third inning when JFK responded, taking advantage of a couple of hits to put up two runs. The game saw several shifts in momentum, with Mogadore clawing back with runs in the sixth and seventh, and finally sealing their victory with two crucial runs in the ninth.

Ronnie Skye was undoubtedly the star for Mogadore, not just pitching a complete game but also scoring three of his team’s five runs. His performance on the mound was gritty, navigating through nine innings on a heavy pitch count of 125 pitches. Despite the pressure, he managed to keep his composure, allowing three runs and striking out two, walking three.

JFK had its moments too. Chase Hadley delivered with two hits and two RBIs, including a double. Dominic Ryan added a triple to his tally, driving in a run. The team matched Mogadore in hits but just couldn’t convert enough of these opportunities into runs, leaving ten runners stranded on base.

Mogadore’s ability to capitalize on their chances, despite having fewer opportunities (stranding twelve), was key. Jake Hopkins came through with three hits and two RBIs, adding essential runs for Mogadore in those tight moments.

This game was a tough pill to swallow for Kennedy, especially considering they were at home and had multiple chances to seize control. The pitching for JFK saw Jaden Rishel starting strongly, but as the game wore on, Mogadore’s hitters adjusted and found ways to score. Michael Bartoe and Andrew Lapolla tried to hold the line, but the small gaps in defense and a couple of wild pitches contributed to their challenges.

Mogadore walks away with the win, but both teams displayed plenty of heart and hustle. JFK will look to bounce back in their next game which is scheduled Thursday away against Boardman.

KENNEDY CAPS OFF MOGADORE

MOGADORE, OH- On a brisk Monday evening, the John F. Kennedy Eagles took to the field against Mogadore, securing a strong 7-3 victory away from home. The Eagles’ offense clicked early and often, leveraging their timely hitting to build a commanding lead.

The game kicked off with Mogadore scratching across the first run in the bottom of the first, but that lead was short-lived. By the second inning, the Eagles had found their rhythm, plating three runs to seize control. The key moment came from Dominic Ryan, who later in the game smashed a crucial home run, not just padding the lead but also igniting the Kennedy crowd.

Contributions came from across the lineup, with Chase Hadley doubling and driving in a run, and newcomer Andrew Lapolla chipping in with two hits and an RBI. Michael Condoleon’s speed was on full display as well, stealing a base and scoring twice, underscoring the Eagles’ aggressive approach on the base paths.

Pitching for JFK was equally effective, with starter Freddy Bolchalk dominating over five innings, allowing just one run and striking out eight. Taggart Carfangia took over for the final two innings, navigating through some traffic but holding Mogadore to just two runs.

Mogadore’s lineup showed sparks of potential, with Ronnie Skye and Tyler Youngblood each knocking doubles, but they couldn’t quite muster enough to keep pace with the Eagles. Their pitcher, Cole Reese, encountered some trouble, giving up six earned runs across six innings, which ultimately proved too much of a hurdle.

The Eagles’ combination of power at the plate and solid pitching handed them a well-earned win as they continue to build momentum this season. As they prepare for their next matchup, the team looks poised to make a significant impact, with players stepping up both offensively and on the mound. If Monday’s performance is anything to go by, the Eagles are shaping up to be a tough opponent in any contest.
