FALCONS PITCHING STUMPS KNIGHTLINE

STRUTHERS OH- After some time off, Class B 16U action got kicked back into gear on Tuesday night. Astro Falcons got back to business by shutting out Knightline 4-0.

Jake Schneider collected multiple hits for the Falcons going 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI.  Drew Kaschak had the same numbers going 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI.  Sam Castronova got into the RBI party going 1-3 and knocking in a run.

Kaschak pitched a gem on the mound to go along with his impressive day at the plate. He threw the complete game and gave up 0 runs on 4 hits.  He struck out 4 hitters as well.

Aiden Thompson went 1-3 for Knightline to give them a positive note on offense.  Dominic Ryan also went 1-3.  Aidan O’Rourke went 1-2 on the day.

John Darnley put together a good performance on the mound despite taking the loss. He went 5 innings and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 3 batters.

ASTRO FALCONS COMPLETE COMEBACK IN REVENGE VICTORY OVER KNIGHTLINE

STRUTHERS, OH- A day after Knightline handed the Astro Falcons their first loss of the season, the Falcons mounted a 4 run comeback to beat Knightline. JFK graduate Gavin Shrum had a clutch 2 RBI single in the third inning to get Knightline on the board first. Anthony Massucci then plated Shrum with an RBI ground out to extend the lead to 3-0. The Falcons would take advantage of a throwing error from right field to respond with a run in the bottom half of the third. Later in the fourth inning, catcher Aaron Posey and right fielder Eric Sundgren scored to tie the ballgame up at 3. In the bottom half of the sixth inning, Posey reached on a walk and then stole second and third base to put the go-ahead runner at third base. Zach Herb stepped up to the plate and drove in Posey with a single into left field. Herb would then finish the ballgame on the mound, securing the comeback victory of 4-3.

The Astro Falcons improve to 11-1 on the season, while Knightline drops to 5-8. Herb picks up his second win of the season after combining for 3 shutout innings out of the bullpen, while striking out 2 batters and not allowing one free pass. Knightline reliever Ronnie Harper gets a tough luck loss going 2.1 innings, while striking out 5 batters.

KNIGHTLINE WALK OFF COMPLETES THE UPSET

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline went toe to toe with the top of the 18U division of Class B Baseball as they walked off Astro Falcons to secure a 11-10 victory.

Anthony Massucci made the most out of a 1-3 day for Knightline knocking in 3 RBI.  He also scored a run.  Ty Eberhardt had a perfect day at the plate going 2-2 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a pair of RBI.  Chance Lazcko also had a great day going 2-2 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI. Mikey Sciortino went 1-3 with a walk and a run scored.

The Astro Falcons had plenty of offense to go around despite the loss.  Zach Herb went 2-3 on the day with a pair of RBI.  Tino Campoli also knocked in a pair of RBI with 2 walks and a run scored.  Anthony Miller gathered a pair of RBI as well going 1-4 with a run scored.

KNIGHTLINE EARNS VICTORY IN PITCHER’S DUEL

STRUTHERS OH- Everything was magnified on Saturday in a matchup between Knightline and Whiting Roll-Offs in the 18U division.  Neither offense had much breathing room, but it was Knightline who came out on top 3-1 thanks to a two run 3rd inning.

Chance Lazcko got a big hit for Knightline going 1-2 on the day with a RBI. Anthony Massucci mirrored those numbers on a 1-2 day and a RBI.  Alex Grzyb collected multiple hits going 2-3 with a run scored.  Gavin Shrum added a RBI to the cause.

Grzyb took the win, and the complete game on the hill. He pitched well, giving up just 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 10.

Sal Mineo had the lone RBI for Whiting. He went 1-3 on the day.  Cooper Vance put together multiple hits on a 2-3 showing.  Shane Roper went 1-1 and scored the only run of the day for Whiting.

Isaac Librich took the loss despite pitching quite well on the mound. He went 4 innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 4 batters.

DURA EDGE FENDS OFF KNIGHTLINE

STRUTHERS OH- Dura Edge fended off Knightline in a close, high-scoring matchup on Monday. In 18U Class B action, Dura Edge willed their way to a 11-7 victory.

Camden Sergi, Caleb Jones, and Anthony Butto all had a great day at the plate for Dura Edge. Sergi went 3-4 on the day with a run scored, and an RBI. Jones went 2-3 at the plate with 1 walk, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. Butto went 2-4 on the day with a run scored, and 4 RBIs. Dura Edge scored 11 runs on 12 hits, and racked up 10 RBIs as a team.

Nathan Holt got the win on the hill. He went 5 IP and gave up 4 earned runs on 7 hits. He finished with 6 strikeouts on the day.

Anthony Massucci led Knightline at the plate, going 3-4 on the day with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Knightline managed to also finish with 12 hits and drew 7 walks as a team.

Alec Grzyb took the loss for Knightline.  He surrendered 4 earned runs on 5 hits. He struck out 2 on the day.

BALLISTIC TOO MUCH FOR KNIGHTLINE

STRUTHERS OH- Ballistic Baseball was too much to handle for Knightline on Sunday. In 16U Class B action, Ballistic pushed their way to a 5-2 victory.

Dominic Elia was clutch for Ballistic. He went 1-2 on the day with 2 walks, a run scored, and 2 RBI.  Grant Seafross went 1-2 as well. He also walked twice, scored a run, and hit a RBI.  Ballistic drew 14 walks as a team.

Ryker McElhinney got the win on the hill. He went 5.2 IP and gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits.  He struck out a pair of batters.

Knightline managed only 1 RBI on the day.  It was a 2-2 day for him with a walk as well.  Carson Fuller went 1-2 with a run scored.

Steven Palmer took the loss for Knightline.  He surrendered 2 earned runs on 3 hits.  He struck out 1 on the day. The Knightline staff struck out 8 as a team.

AVALANCHE COME DOWN ON KNIGHTLINE

STRUTHERS OH- Avalanche was too much to handle on Tuesday night for Knightline. The Avalanche offense stormed their way to a 15-5 victory.

Andrew Gault was the big bat for Avalanche. He was perfect at the plate going 2-2 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Jimmy Roe added on 2 RBI on a 2-3 day and scored a run.  Jake Phillips would t be outdone, he also knocked in 2 RBI and went 2-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Jake Smith went 1-2 with 2 RBI as well.

Bennet Hayne got the win on the hill for Avalanche. He went 4 innings and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He struck out a batter as well.

John Darnley led the Knightline offense going 2-2 with a RBI and a run scored. Nate Freeland chipped in a 1-3 day with a RBI.  Grady Moore was 2-2 on the day.  Aiden Thompson went 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.

 

DURA EDGE COMES OUT ON TOP IN SLUGFEST

STRUTHERS OH- Offense was not hard to find on Sunday in Class B action between Dura Edge and Knightline.  Edge scored 6 runs in the bottom of the sixth to come away with the 10-8 victory.

Paul Gubba was huge for Edge going 1-2 with 3 RBI. Ethan Feezle was 1-1 with a pair of RBI.  Charlie Young collected multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI and a run scored.  Mathew Boccieri walked 4 times on the day.

Michael Gushura got the win for Edge pitching an inning giving up 0 earned runs on 2 hits and striking out 1.

Tyler Rarrick came up with 4 RBI on just 1 hit for Knightline. Going 1-2 on the day also with a walk and a run scored.  Andrew Brown went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and a walk.  Nate Freeland was 1-1 with a RBI.

KNIGHTLINE GETS IT DONE

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline opened up the day at Cene Park on Monday by doubling up on Whiting Roll-Offs in an impressive 6-3 win. The scoring was early and often as neither team scored after the 4th inning.

Tyler Mikulin was very productive for Knightline at the dish going 2-3 with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI. Tyler Capan also had a multiple hit day going 2-4.  Aaron Daughty was 1-3 with a run scored, and a RBI on the day.  Aiden Thompson was 1-4 with a run scored, and a RBI.

Bronson Ferencak earned the win for Knightline. He lasted 3.1 innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits.  He struck out a pair. Knightline pitching struck out 7 total.

Braden Zeigler was a bright spot for Whiting collecting multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI.  Nick Rogers went 1-1 with a RBI.  He also worked 2 walks. Ben Miller went 1-3 with a RBI.

Dominic Bumblis was tagged with the loss for Whiting. He threw 3 innings giving up 5 runs on 5 hits.  Whiting pitching didn’t strike out a single hitter.

AVALANCHE SWEEP SATURDAY TWIN BILL

STRUTHERS, Ohio

Sitting at second place in the Hernandez Division, the Avalanche took part in a pair of divisional matchups Saturday morning.

GAME 1

Knightline (5-11) started the scoring in the top of the second when they had a man reach on an error who would later come across to score off an Andrew McRoberts triple to deep right field. McRoberts would later score himself thanks to an RBI single by Aiden Thompson.

Trailing by 2, the Avalanche finally got the bats going in the bottom half of the third. A leadoff walk from Richie Preston saw the first man reach, then a passed ball and a steal of third allowed Austin Ward to single home their first run of the ball game. Julian Trott would then put down a bunt single before both Trott and Ward would be bunted into scoring position.

After Reese Henderson would draw a walk, a basehit by Lucas Cummings saw everyone advance a bag to knot things up at 2 before a 2RBI double from Jake Mattocks saw the Avalanche take their first lead of the game.

The Avalanche would go on to score an additional 5 runs in for the game, securing their first victory of the day, 11-4.

GAME 2

Fresh off their game 1 victory, the Avalanche had to turn around and face the league leading Astro Falcons (14-2). Just as their opponents, Knightline, did in the first leg of the double header, Astro plated one in the first. With two outs, Luca Ricchiuti drew a walk, stole a base, then was brought around to score off an RBI single by Bo Fornataro.

The Avalanche struck back quickly in the bottom frame. Plating three in their first trips to the platehighlighted by an RBI triple by Richie Preston. The scoring continued to come in bunches for the Avalanche, scoring 2 in the 2nd before another 3 in the 4th.

Four different players took the mound in their eventual 8-4 victory, with the win going to Keegan Balla. The Avalanche arms combined for a total of just 2 strikeouts and allowed 8 hits.

With their sweep of the day, the Avalanche (10-6)cement their 2nd place spot in the division with just 3 games left to play.
