ALL 4 ONE

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- When taking a look at standout area athletes, if you’re truly looking, it won’t be hard to find a soon-to-be household name: Kyia White.  The East Liverpool sophomore might be the area’s best-hidden gem student-athlete we’ve seen in years.  Mostly because of the way she handles herself on and off the court, Kyia tries to steer clear of the limelight, and pushes the attention to her teammates, coaches, and the program itself.

Although still young, and always learning, White has taken a leadership role on the floor for Coach Dan McKinstry’s squad.  A gander at MaxPreps will tell you that White’s serves are good over 97% of the time, and leads the conference and is ranked in the nation in kills, which, sets her offense up for success- and in turn, has helped the Potters get out to a great start this season!

We had a chance to catch up with the vibrant volleyballer in this week’s East Liverpool Potter Profile: All 4 One.

POTTERS CRASH REBELS HOME OPENER

COLUMBIANA OH- East Liverpool Volleyball showed no fear against the back to back district champion Crestview Rebels on Wednesday night as they stormed to a 3-0 sweep (25-23 25-19 25-19).

The first set was a thriller. After the Potters jumped out to a 9-4 lead, the Rebels came back and tied it at 9. From that point on the Potters lead didn’t go over two until they led 23-20. Even then, the Rebels fought back and made it 23-22 before the Potters made the plays needed to win 25-23.

For sets two and three the dominance of East Liverpool captain Sharnae Wilson proved too much for the Rebels to match. Wilson had 19 kills on the night, and just 1 attack error. That’s a hitting percentage of .818. Kyia White added 9 kills for the Potters. Addison Galeoti led in digs with 11.

Lucy Montgomery had a great night for Crestview transitioning from setter last season to an outside hitter this season. She led the team with 13 kills, 6 digs, and an ace. Grace Auer had 13 assists and 4 kills.

Crestview returns to action Saturday morning hosting Minerva at 10:00.

East Liverpool gets back to action on Thursday traveling to Beaver Local.
