LAKEVIEW SETS UP FIRST PLACE BRAWL

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview has been on a roll since opening the NE8 season with a loss to Girard. The Bulldogs made quick work of a young talented Hubbard team on Tuesday to keep pace with the Indians ahead of their second matchup of the year. (25-22 25-19 25-17)

Tara Lytle had a masterful night finishing the match with 14 kills, and 5 blocks. Maggie Pavlansky earned a double double with 15 assists, and 10 digs. Both of those numbers were the team lead. Emma Schmader added 9 kills to the Bulldogs cause.

This sets up a big match on Thursday night in Lakeview as Girard comes to town with first place in the conference on the line. Hubbard will look to get it back on Thursday as they travel to Niles.

DRAGONS VICTORIOUS ON THE ROAD

CORTLAND OH- Niles made the trip to Lakeview to open their NE8 slate this season. The Dragons battled their way to a hard earned 28-14 win over the Bulldogs.

Antuan Gardner was the driving force for the Niles offense. He ran for 211 yards on 29 carries. He scored all 4 of his team’s touchdowns as well. Marcus Coots caught 3 passes for 39 yards.

Niles is now 3-1 on the season and will make another road trip in Week 5. The Dragons travel to Jefferson Friday. Lakeview will keep looking for their first win as they travel to Girard.

BULLDOGS FEELING SWEET WITH SWEEP OF STRUTHERS

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview is starting to put things together after a tough start to the 2021 campaign. They continued to win on Tuesday with a straight sweep of Struthers at home. (25-6 25-17 25-19)

Tara Lytle led the Bulldogs offense with 11 kills on the night. She was also efficient commuting only 2 errors all night. Lytle served up 4 aces as well. Maggie Pavlansky continued to set the offense well finishing with 15 assists. She also led the defense with 7 digs. Emma Schmader finished with 6 kills, and a block for the Bulldogs.

Lakeview gets right back to action Wednesday as they host Mooney. Struthers is also in action Wednesday as they host Springfield.

LEOPARDS ESCAPE LAKEVIEW IN OVERTIME

CORTLAND OH- It quickly turned into a thriller Friday night between Liberty and Lakeview, as the Leopards were able to come away in with the 34-28 win in overtime.

D.C Ferrell shined bright for the Leopards throwing for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns, while gaining 68 on the ground. La’Breilyn Wilson was also a force to be reckoned with for Liberty’s offense as he found the endzone twice, including the game winning score in over time.

Lakeview made a big rally to even get into overtime. The Bulldogs trailed 20-7 in the fourth quarter. A score and a blocked punt set Lakeview up for a quick 21-20 lead. It wouldn’t last long, as Liberty answered quickly tying the game at 28, then winning it by scoring last in overtime.

Both teams get into conference play next week as Liberty will travel to Brookfield, and Lakeview will stay home to host Niles.

BULLDOGS GET IT DONE AGAINST SOUTH RANGE

CANFIELD OH- Lakeview went on the road on Tuesday night and took care of business against South Range in straight sets. (25-22 25-16 25-12)

Tara Lytle led the Bulldogs offense securing 14 kills on the night, and adding on 3 blocks. Emma Schmader also found herself in double figures finishing with 10 kills. Maggie Pavlansky set up the Bulldog offense well finishing with 16 assists, and serving up 5 aces. Maddie Bayus led the back row gathering 13 digs.

Maria Primavera had another double figure kills night finishing with 11 kills to lead the Raiders. Sarah Kuhns finished with 14 assists. Reagan Irons was solid on defense finishing with 23 digs. Her performance let her surpass 1000 digs in her career.

Both teams hit the road to continue their seasons. Lakeview will travel to Niles, while the Raiders head to Girard. Both matches are slated for Thursday.

GIRARD SENDS A MESSAGE BY BEATING DEFENDING CHAMPS

GIRARD OH- Girard was not phased at all by the fact that Lakeview was 41-1 in the NE8 in the last 3 seasons. They didn’t even flinch when they went down 2-0. Girard grabbed the momentum and never looked back on their way to a five set win (15-25 22-25 25-16 25-16 15-9).

Lauren Pelone put on a show for the Indians. She finished with a outstanding 25 kills on the night. Bree Latell was also strong for Girard finishing with 20 kills. Bailey Walters finished the night with 26 assists.

Tara Lytle also put on a show for Lakeview in the losing effort. She totaled 22 kills on the night. Emma Schmader was also in double figures with 10. Maggie Pavlansky set up 33 assists on the night. Maddie Bayus led the defense with 17 digs.

Girard will travel to Hubbard on Thursday to look to continue to win. Lakeview is still looking for their first win of the season, they’ll have their home opener Thursday against Poland.

REBELS SWEEP LAKEVIEW TO OPEN NEW SEASON

COLUMBIANA OH- It was a highly anticipated match up between two dominant program to open the volleyball season Saturday morning as Crestview hosted Lakeview. The Rebels swept the match in straight sets winning all three in thrilling fashion (25-22 25-22 25-22).

Grace Auer led a balanced Rebel offense with 9 kills, and also set up 14 assists. Lucy Montgomery finished with 8 kills, and 18 assists. Freshman Abbey Emch had a heck of a debut grabbing 8 kills and 5 blocks. Shelby Rambo also collected 8 kills, and she added 2 blocks. Kendra Greaves led the Rebels in digs with 18.

For Lakeview Tara Lytle had a match high 13 kills. She also contributed 2 blocks. Emma Schmader finished with 9 kills. Maggie Pavlansky set up the Bulldogs offense finishing with 18 assists. Maddie Bayus led the Bulldogs defense collecting 10 digs.

Crestview returns to action Tuesday as they travel to Liberty. Lakeview jumps into NE8 play as they travel to Girard on Tuesday.

VIKING OFFENSE EXPLODES IN BLOWOUT WIN OVER LAKEVIEW

LEVITTSBURG OH- The LaBrae Vikings and the Lakeview Bulldogs faced off in the first game of the 2021 season. The Vikings offense was explosive from start to finish, with the three headed monster of Tre’Von Drake, Devin Carter, and Aiden Stephens all scoring in the opener.

Tre’von Drake was a ball hawk defensively, contributing 2 interceptions and also added in a touchdown in the 4th quarter. Devin Carter led the Vikings on the ground with 115 yards and 3 touchdowns. Carter entered his final senior season as the all time leading rusher at LaBrae. The quarterback Aiden Stephens had a great night offensively, rushing for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also completing 8 of 10 passes for 119 yards.

The Vikings took down the Bulldogs 40-0 in the opener, and will take on Valley Christian next Saturday. Lakeview will travel next Friday to take on Garrettsville.

2021 LAKEVIEW FOOTBALL PREVIEW

CORTLAND OH- The time is finally here and we are like little kids on Christmas. High School football season has swung back around and is now back to a normal 10 game schedule. LAKEVIEW VOLLEYBALL CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS

CORTLAND OH- The Lakeview volleyball team is among the most dominant teams in the area. They have only lost one game in the conference in the three seasons the NE8 has existed. Success like that does not come without top level leadership. This season is no different as senior Carly Hawn, and junior Maggie Pavlansky have been named the team’s captains. They are excited to take up the mantel this season, and appreciate the sing of respect that comes with being a captain. Maggie has been a leader on the court as the setter. Carly takes the approach of being a motivational and emotional leader, keeping the positive momentum needed for teams to win a volleyball match.

Maggie, and Carly both took the time to jump on YSN’s Running Point to talk about being captains on the team.
