CRISH CROSS

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview has experienced a blessing of success over the years. Their dominance in the NE8 is nothing short of extraordinary. That kind of success can only be achieved with a mixture of hard work, talent, and exceptional leadership. For senior Mara Crish, it is a mixture of all of them. Her work ethic is second to none. When the underclassmen get to see how hard she works as a successful senior, it forces them to raise to her level. Mara has exceptional talent to along with her work ethic. Her instincts and volleyball IQ are off the charts. And then of course you need to add the energy and leadership that she brings to the Bulldogs. Volleyball is a game of energy, and momentum. The Dogs feed off of Mara’s energy in times when things aren’t rolling on all cylinders.

Mara has a career hitting percentage of .273, which is very efficient. She doesn’t get a ton of attempts but she clearly makes the most of her opportunities to attack out of the back row. Mara does her best work on defense, eclipsing 200 digs in her career. She is also a very reliable server, with only 17 service errors in her career.

LAKEVIEW ESCAPES INDIANS UPSET BID

CORTLAND OH- It was not looking good for Lakeview on Thursday night as they fell behind 2-0 to a powerful Girard team. They could see their long NE8 win streak, and their undefeated season slipping away. The Bulldogs barked back and rallied to win 3 sets in a row to dodge a bullet and beat Girard in five (16-25 20-25 25-17 25-16 25-13).

Tara Lytle led a balanced Bulldog offense with 12 kills. She also managed to grab 3 aces, and 3 blocks. Senior Anna Peterson showed great leadership and finished with 9 kills, 4 digs, and 1 ace.  Maddie Bayus continues her strong defense leading the back row with 23 digs. Brooke Schnider wasn’t far off with 21. Maggie Pavlansky set up 34 assists.

Lakeview will take a deep breath and travel to Struthers on Tuesday. Girard will need to look ahead, as they have a tough non conference match Monday hosting Western Reserve.

BULLDOGS WIN STREAK REACHES TEN

NILES OH- Lakeview has now opened the season on a 10 match win streak. They stayed dominant in the NE8 with a sweep of Niles on Tuesday (25-12 25-15 25-14).

The Bulldogs has a balanced offense, with three players surpassing 5 kills. Emma Shmader led with 9. She also finished with 4 aces, 4 digs, and a block. Tara Lytle has 8 kills, 6 aces, a dig, and a block. Anna Peterson finished with 5 kills. Maggie Pavlansky set up the offense with 21 assists. Pavlansky also finished with 5 digs, and 4 aces. Maddie Bayus led Lakeview in digs with 10.

Lakeview moves on to a big conference test as they host 13-3 Girard. Niles will host Struthers on Thursday trying to bounce back.

GRADE A, ANNA

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview volleyball has experienced years of domination in the area. One of the most dominating teams in the are. This season, although the Lakeview team could be considered young, it’s their two seniors that bring experience and mental toughness in hard situations. The few times the Bulldogs have struggled this season, its been the seniors that have pulled them through. One of those seniors is Anna Peterson.

Anna is a fantastic leader on the court for the Bulldogs. Her leadership is by example. Always doing things the right way, and upholding the standards of the program. Anna has been essential to the Bulldogs being able to mesh their young talent with their experienced leaders. She is always there to lead the younger players along and show them a great example. The future looks bright in Lakeview, and Anna is a big reason why.

In her career Anna has played in 168 sets. She has been able to swing for 213 kills so far, and averages 1.3 kills per set. Peterson has put together an impressive kill percentage of 33.1. She can also play terrific net defense blocking 48 balls in her career. Anna also is not a liability in the back row getting 73 digs.

LAKEVIEW REMAINS UNBEATEN AFTER BATTLE WITH RAIDERS

CANFIELD OH- Lakeview has owner the NE8 over the past three seasons, and their dominance continued with a four set win over South Range on Tuesday (25-22 25-19 22-25 25-21).

The Raiders fought hard throughout the night against a Lakeview team that came into the match only dropping four sets total all season. The Raiders had momentum in set one, as Lakeview took some time to find a rhythm. However, a late 4-0 run gave the Bulldogs just enough room to squeak past the Raiders in set one 25-22.

Set two was where Lakeview really showed their strength. Setter Maggie Pavlansky made a bunch of aggressive attacks on the second touch to keep the Raiders defense off balance. Senior Anna Peterson also stepped up huge in set two getting the clutch points when her team needed them.

The Raiders really bounced back nicely and controlled most of the third set. Their defense kept Peterson quiet. The blocking and strong swings of Izzy Lamparty stood out for South Range. The Raiders had a 21-14 lead in the set, but Lakeview would not go away. The Raiders took the set, but the Bulldogs got back on their feet and took momentum in to set four.

That momentum carried straight into set four as the Bulldogs took a 7-1 lead early. The Raiders kept up the fight though, after Maria Primavera had to leave the court due to injury, Jami Stachowicz rattled off five kills the rest of the set to fill in. With the Raiders closing in fast, Peterson came up with a pair of clutch kills to take Lakeview to a match sealing set four win 25-22.

Peterson led the Bulldogs in kills with 13. Pavlansky set well and finished the match with 31 assists. Libero Maddie Bayus played well collecting 25 digs.

Izzy Lamparty led the Raiders in her senior night with 13 kills. Bri Hiner caused Lakeview all kinds of trouble with her serve and gathered 3 aces. Reagan Irons dug up 28 digs. Sarah Kuhn’s and Jamie Feren both finished with 11 assists.

Lakeview remains undefeated at 8-0 and will start the second half of NE8 play on Thursday traveling to Hubbard. The Eagles are the only team to take Lakeview to five sets this season. South Range will look to snap their three match losing streak Wednesday traveling to Mooney.

 

LAKEVIEW CLIPS FALCONS WINGS

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview stacked up another NE8 win on Thursday night with a sweep of Jefferson (25-13 25-19 25-19).

Maggie Pavlansky led the team in kills with 7, she also led the team in assists with 11, she also collected 8 aces and served up an ace. Anna Peterson finished with 5 kills and 3 digs. Mara Crish got double digit digs with 10.

Lakeview will try to keep on winning when they travel to South Range on Tuesday.  Jefferson will host Hubbard on Tuesday continuing league play.

 

LAKEVIEW TAKES THE BATTLE OF THE BULLDOGS

POLAND OH- Lakeview just keeps on keeping on in the NE8 with a four set victory over Poland on Tuesday (22-25 25-13 25-21 25-14). Lakeview remains undefeated at 5-0, and still hasn’t lost a NE8 match in over a year.

Anna Peterson led Lakeview in kills with 13. Maggie Pavlansky has a monster night setting the ball with 37 assists. Maddie Bayus played great defense finishing with 31 digs.

Poland was led by Morgan Kluchar with 6 kills, she also had 4 blocks. Madison Wess led the team in assists with 14. Alyssa Glaros patrolled the Poland back row with 22 digs.

Lakeview will host Mooney on Wednesday. Poland is now 3-2 and will host Struthers on Thursday.

BULLDOGS TAKE A BITE OUT OF STRUTHERS

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview Volleyball continues it’s dominance over the NE8 with a sweep of Struthers on Thursday (25-15 25-23 25-14).

Leading the Bulldogs was Tara Lytle was 11 kills, 4 aces, an assist, and a dig. Anna Peterson also added 8 kills. Maggie Pavlansky ran the offense well finishing with 25 assists. Maddie Bayus patrolled the back row and got 13 digs.

Lakeview looks to stay hot as they travel to Poland on Tuesday. Struthers will want to bounce back on Tuesday as they travel to Jefferson.

LAKEVIEW SLAMS DOWN INDIANS

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview continued their dominance of the NE8 with a sweep of Girard on Tuesday. They were two competitive sets out of three, but Lakeview always came out on top. (25-21 25-13 25-20).

Tara Lytle led the Bulldogs with 6 kills, 4 aces, 3 blocks, and 2 digs.  Brooke Schnider put together a fantastic defensive night with 18 digs. Maggie Pavlansky had 10 assists.

For the Indians, Lauren Pallone had a match high 12 kills. Allison Durkin had 12 digs.  Durkin, and Sophie Griffith split the setting each gathering 10 assists.

Girard travels to Poland on Thursday trying to bounce back. Lakeview looks to keep on winning as they host Struthers on Thursday.

INDIANS DISMANTLE LAKEVIEW

CORTLAND OH- It was not a fast start for Girard in Week 1 of their football season. After an hour delay of  kickoff, Girard waited quite some time to score their first touchdown of the game. Once they did however, the flood gates opened and they ran away with a 35-0 blowout of NE8 foe Lakeview.

Andrew DelGarbino has a great night throwing the ball. He went 8/12 with 137 yards and a pair of TD’s. Girard also got things done on the ground. Tyler Maddox ran for 138 yards and a TD.

Girard now 1-0 early in the campaign will host South Range in Week 2. Lakeview drops to 0-1 and they will look to get back in the win column as they travel to Struthers.
